Insert confused smilie here -> hee hee ... haw
Nothing confusing about it. I am always serious when I say that intelligent civilized people can debate/discuss/argue issues without name calling and personal attacks.

The point was that this is a non serious thread. In all the serious threads, you go on tangents, or joke when others think it is not appropriate (There's that word again) However when someone starts a thread specifically for light heartedness, all of a sudden you get serious??

That's what the confusion statement was for.

Just how many "serious" threads are there on TERB? Almost every thread degenerates into a pissing contest between various posters and name calling and personal attacks.

Thank you for being a friend
Traveled down the road and back again
Your heart is true your a pal and a confidant.

And if you through a party
Invited everyone you ever knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say thank you for being a friend.

There is absolutely no anger whatsoever in that post. In fact, I wish we had better smilies as I was laughing when I wrote it.

Heck I even changed my sig line to include the word and definition of sarchasm.

I have no anger when i post. Mostly I find pockig fun fun, so that might be considered bullying. Maybe some exasperation at some of the ridiculous things I read, maybe some Smart Alec, maybe some mocking but no anger.

So with that said... why don't you go fuck yourself! (That is if you can't find some willing SP that offers strap on play!)

The above ^^^ is an example of me trying to be funny in a good natured but smart alec way but obviously can be more likely taken literally and as bad.
Rubbie's humour is alittle dark but humour nonetheless. Often my sarcastic comments are misconstrued as my sense of humour is somewhat dark.

With this said, Sir Rubbie, your finger missed missed the 'n' in poking, but I realize that it was just a simple mistake. Now, if you're not going to partake in continuous pleasure of that lovely and wealthy woman from California could you be so kind and introduce us;)

It turns out Rubs's beautiful woman was none other than Bev Oda.

Did you know Alec was a pimp, thief and confidence man?

Here's the straight dope. Note it's answered by Czarcasm, lol.

Dear Straight Dope:

I have been unsuccessful in finding the origin to the word "smart alec" or "smart aleck." Was Alec a person and what made him so smart? Share the straight dope on this one for us, please.

— Cindy Jimenez, Temple City, CA.

According to G.L. Cohen, author of Studies in Slang Part 1 (1985), the phrase smart alec(k) arose from the exploits of one Alec Hoag. A celebrated pimp, thief, and confidence man operating out of New York City in the 1840's, Mr. Hoag, along with his wife Melinda and an accomplice known as "French Jack," operated a con called the "panel game," a method by which prostitutes and their pimps robbed foolish customers. See www.wordwizard.com/.

A search of several of the more reliable dictionaries pretty much confirms this definition. The Oxford English Dictionary traces it to mid-1860s slang, while the American Heritage Dictionary (4th ed., 2000) and Brewer's Dictionary of Phrase and Fable (16th ed., 1999) tentatively trace the etymology of the phrase to Hoag.

The "panel game" consisted of sliding walls that would enable Mr. Hoag to sneak in whilst the mark was sleeping and steal valuables. Before Mr. Hoag, a prostitute's accomplices would wait until the mark was asleep, then burst into the room. But the marks got wise and would block the door with a table or chair propped up under the doorknob, thinking they would then be safe from intruders. "Smart" Alec Hoag, because he never woke the victim, would be on the other side of town before the rube even knew what had happened.
