Stanley Cup Final predictions for Lightning vs. Stars
Conn Smythe Trophy winner also picked by NHL.com staff writers, editors
https://www.nhl.com/news/tampa-bay-...p-final-predictions/c-319088494?tid=277548856
The Tampa Bay Lightning will win the Stanley Cup, according to 11 of the 16 NHL.com staff writers and editors who made their predictions for the final round.
Of the 11 who picked the Lightning, eight predicted defenseman Victor Hedman will win the Conn Smythe Trophy, which is awarded to the most valuable player of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Forwards Brayden Point and Nikita Kucherov, and goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy also got a vote for Conn Smythe.
Of the five writers and editors who predicted the Stars to win the Cup, three predicted goalie Anton Khudobin will win the Conn Smythe Trophy, and two went with defenseman Miro Heiskanen.
One of the five to predict the Stars will win the Cup is staff writer David Satriano, the only one to go 2-0 in the conference finals. He was also one of two to pick the Stars to defeat the Vegas Golden Knights in the Western Conference Final.

2020 Stanley Cup Final preview: Tampa Bay Lightning vs. Dallas Stars matchup, series pick
https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id...lightning-vs-dallas-stars-matchup-series-pick
So here we have it, a Stanley Cup being awarded in September. In a bubble. It will be either the Tampa Bay Lightning (whose only Cup win came back in 2004) against the Dallas Stars (lone Cup in 1999). It's the first time two Sun Belt teams have faced off in the Final.

^^^SO, I have been wrong Picking Winners...I say TBL will take the Cup...

What we're hearing about the 2020-21 NHL season

What the schedule will look like
Ever since the pandemic upended the 2019-20 season, commissioner Gary Bettman has been insistent on restoring as much normalcy as possible next season, including a full 82-game slate for every team.

"Looking at the schedule, making some adjustments, we believe we can play a full season, and if we run a little later than usual, that may be one of the consequences," he said.

The NHL and NHL Players' Association tentatively agreed to a Dec. 1 start date for 2020-21, with training camps beginning on Nov. 17. But privately, team executives believe that's too ambitious. The further the NHL pushes back the start date, the less likely a full schedule is. Awarding a Stanley Cup in September or October isn't going to be a regular occurrence.

As one high-ranking team business executive told ESPN bluntly: "We all realize an 82-game schedule for next season is a pipe dream. It's just not going to happen."

Final, not Finals.

Yes, better than no completion to a season.

Dallas in 6. They seem to keep finding ways to win, and GAMES 4 & 5 are back to back games, and fatigue is starting to catch up to Tampa having played so many games, so many overtimes, etc, and I can't see them winning the Stanley Cup without Stamkos. So unless Stamkos can somehow suit up in time for game 5 or six, I just can't see a tired Tampa team getting past Dallas. If they do it will take a full 7 games and with Stamkos playing in at least a couple of games.

The lack of travel is going to really help both teams, but it will probably benefit Tampa the most. That said, DALLAS IN 6 is my prediction.

Here are a couple of interesting thoughts.

1) Pat Maroon - - was with the Blues when they won the Cup last year and is with the Lightning who might win the Cup this year.

2) Matt Martin -- with the Islanders who made it to the Eastern Conference Finals this year.

NHL 2020 playoff scoring leaders
Number 1 Kucherov 23 games 7 goals 32 points (yes, only 7 goals so he must suck)
Number 2 Point 21 games 13 goals 30 points.
Both non hitters unlike McDavid who is a banger.

Using Rocker's method of pick and choose your own 5 or 6 game set to evaluate hockey players I present to you for the 2020 playoffs:
Matthews (Auston) 5 Games played 2 goals 4 assists for 6 points
Marner (Mitch) 5 Games played 0 goals 4 assiss for 4 points (I know zero goals so he must suck)
Tkachuk (Matthew) 6 Games played 1 goal 1 assist for 2 points and he got knocked out of the playoffs with a clean hit and couldn't play game 7.
2 points in 6 games and couldn't take a hit for such a big hulking guy must mean all hulking guys suck. This is Rocker's deductive logic.

By the way, Matt Martin's career playoff stats is 60 games played scoring 6 goals.
That means prior to this year's playoffs he had played 38 games and scored 1 goal. ( probably bounced off his shin guard)
Yes, some team should pick up this late blooming Ovechkin Junior.

Side note: Rocker's favourite player was John Kordic (in the mould of Matt Martin). He hated Russ Courtnall.

That Kelly Hrudy doesn't mince words. He said Shattenkirk heard Big Benn coming at him so he (Shattenkirk) bailed and toss the puck away (leading to the Dallas tying goal). It never hurts to be a bit intimidating.

P.S. Lightning could/should have won this game and the Cup to-night if Shattenkirk hadn't bailed because he didn't want to get hit by Big Benn.
