Dubas is on the phone to acquire Maroon and Martin ASAP.
Matt Martin is good enough for the Islanders but not good enough for the Leafs (the Leafs had him and let him go). Dubas doesn't like/want hard nosed players. Did Dubas get rid of Clifford as well?

Maybe Dubas is trying to get another "skill" player to lead the Leafs to the playoffs. LOL!

The Lightning are competing and very well might win the Cup this year because they toughened up.

not always sure...
It continues to be a tough series.
Tampa and Dallas are knocking the snot out of each other and there's not much room for playmaking.
2nd overtime tonight and there were 119 hits - most by Tampa who's forechecking is heavy and physical.

for the 2020 playoffs:
Nylander (William) 5 Games played 2 goals 2 assists for 4 points (double the output of hulking Tkachuk in less games)
Tavaras (John) 5 Games played 2 goals 1 assist for 3 points
Hyman (Zach) 5 Games played 1 goal 2 assists for 3 points
Tkachuk (Matthew) 6 Games played 1 goal 1 assist for 2 points (did I mention he's hulking big and got knocked out)

I love how Dallas won tonight making a series out of it.

I have no idea why Tkachuk gets hammered here but for me I would take Matthew, Brady or Keith Tkachuk when he played on my team over Nylander. When it comes to die hard fans of a team I respect the loyalty but sometimes they have blind spots on what is wrong with the team.

Anybody in their right mind would take Tkachuk over Nylander, that's not the question, but Rocker would trade Nylander for the late blooming OV Junior. That's Martin as in Matt.

Nobody got rid of Kyle Clifford.

He has elected to explore unrestricted free agency.

Proving once again that Nylander is probably the best player in hockey.

It's actually just the 3 who are constantly blowing smoke. The majority of members, some of whom don't post anywhere near as much as the 3, do know their hockey. Here just two examples.

One member refers to the Leafs as "pastry chefs".

Another member said Matthews couldn't break an egg in the corners.

Note: Clifford's agent said he (Clifford) won't be coming back to the Leafs. So, the Leafs didn't try hard enough to re-sign him.
"The 29-year-old's agent told Terry Koshan of the Toronto Sun that Clifford will not be re-signing with the Toronto Maple Leafs and that the team has been made aware of his intentions."

I’ve been to both Dallas and Tampa in the past 16 months. I root for the city that has the best restaurants.

Rocker doesn't like your man Matthews either. Mocks him for his Lady Byng. Nathan MacKinnon or Ryan O'Reilly anyone?
Goes so far as to not like his fashion sense for crying out loud.
I suppose Rocker wants him to dress like a 75 year old with his waistband up to his chest.

43.1Checking from Behind - A check from behind is a check delivered on a player who is not aware of the impending hit, therefore unable to protect or defend himself, and contact is made on the back part of the body. When a player intentionally turns his body to create contact with his back, no penalty shall be assessed.

The Leafs should follow the Tampa template. Bring in a couple of hard nosed players like Maroon and Coleman. No, Tampa did not give the farm away to get those two players because they have competent management.

I used to hate watching the Sedin twins play / always facing the boards with their asses out so you can’t hit them. Effective for them but booooring style of play. They were talented and when they wanted to “play the game” they sure could move the puck well.

I loved Martin and really miss him - just a great dressing room guy and all the boys knew he had their six. 100% Agreement - LEAFS need some tough (heart) players. Surprises me a bit with Shanny involved as he was pretty hard nosed at times.

I think Paul MacLean is a coach (or maybe even GM) in waiting. His signing probably means Keefe and Dubas are on short leases. Why else would he come to Toronto?
