Not a fan of Carrick. At least Polak can kill penalties and Leafs were lacking in the PK department on the defense front.
The only thing I worry about Polak is how he adjusts to the new slashing on the hand/arm rule in his first game back. He likes to hack and I'll be happy if he takes less than 2 slashing penalties
Finally banned. I made two complaints about it to the mods today. In another thread, it insulted a woman member and said that women in the industry despised white men and had 99% Black bf's.
It posted a video of a dog getting savaged and killed in another thread.
It crashed a thread of mine two days ago and claimed that the only guys who used escorts were old, ugly dudes who used depends.
In another thread, it claimed to be an expert on the industry in York region and said that York Region PD was pimping out women.
In each of these threads, it posted repeatedly and aggressively on the same themes.
Given time, it would have got even more out of control.

It took less than 24 hours. Maybe feeding it sped up the process. It gave him more chances to spew his verbal diarrhea.
Great game indeed and how about Marleau's hands. Nice GWG. This guy really impresses me. He looks like one of the young guns. Great signing!
If Marner stays you'll hear and write a lot about that line; it'll be the best 4th line in the league. The question is how long before he's moved out as he's just too good to be playing on the 4th line. By far his best game this season and showed once again that ability to drive a line by himself.
As to the oddsmakers setting the Leafs as the favorites and the bandwagon jumpers. I was convinced that Richard Peddie had condemned me to never see a Leafs Stanley Cup win in my lifetime, then something extraordinary happened - the Cubs won the World Series. Now with that achievement, all bets are off.
At the 2015 draft, I repeatedly said that the Leafs should pick Noah Hanifin. The Carolina Hurricanes are coming to town. They don't appear much improved, but the Leafs can't take them lightly.

It'll be interesting to watch two teams with different approaches to building the foundation of the team. By chance or by design, Leafs are built on a potent offence core while the Hurricanes are built on a solid defence core.
Tonight's game is the last of the second 5-game segment. A win will match their first @ 4-1. The next segment will be a very tough one which includes a west coast trip against the power teams of the west.
I'm shaking my head. With all those 1st overall picks and the Oilers still can't build a decent team around Connor McDavid? I bet they'd be willing to let go a first round pick for Josh Leivo.
If Montreal's not making any panic moves, I don't think the Oilers will as they're much closer to coming out of the funk. I've watched most of their games and my impression has been that while they don't have the balance of the Leafs in offence and finishing touches, luck hasn't been on their side either. They played well enough to have won a couple more games but just couldn't finish their chances. They have a few more "heavy" players like Lucic, Kassian, Marroon, etc. but they don't generate as many scoring chances like the Leafs' softer players like JVR, Marleau or Marner. Their defense hasn't been as mobile or supportive of the offense either and they've been relying too much on McDavid to do it all.
The team that I still think should do very well is Winnipeg. They have a lot of talent in defense and forwards but goaltending has been the main culprit (along with taking too many penalties) in the games they lost.
