SCTV is bittersweet these days. If John Candy had gotten his weight under control and lived, Chris Farley would not have lost his mind.

Maybe I've been misinformed, but my understanding is that the records are the property of the patient and if that patient wants to move elsewhere the previous health professional is obligated to forward them to the current one.
Much easier said than done. These providers have a vested interest ($) in a lot of cases. This is much more pronounced in the US, but creeping into Canada...

After seeing someone close go through the most rigorous regimen of chemo there is for 5 months, then a lesser chemo for an additional 7 months, combined with radiation and hormone therapy, and seeing what kind of devastation it worked on her, both in short-term and long-term side effects, I'd have to say that I too would refuse the chemotherapy at age 72. Heck, I'm not sure I'd do it at half that age either! But I don't have a wife and kids to look out for, so maybe that influences my decision.

There's a reason a cure for cancer is the holy grail of medicine. The current treatments are horrific to go through, and horrific to see someone you love go through.
My father got the lung cancer, treated at 90. He had a mass on his scans for ages but they kept thinking it might be something else till some boffin figured, hey maybe biopsey. He did quit smoking 40 years earlier and my smoking mother died 20 years earlier [of lung cancer, so even with no smoking, I'm probably fucked]
So anyways, at 90 and not in the best shape, they wouldn't even consider surgery or chemo. Radiation was tolerated well.
Cancer guy said they probably got it all, but couldn't really tell because reasons.
Turns out he was dead within a year of fluid build up in the lungs [also issues of questionable incompetence but meh]
They said his heart function dropped from 70 to 35% probably either from a unknown heart attack or maybe radiation hit the heart.
Either way the first doc basically told him to fuck off and die, with the idea that ANY treatment would be too hard and he would likely die of something else [that part seems true]
Second doc said he was a good candidate for radiation, and he was.

I trust in medical science, but whenever people say "I listen to my doctor" I kinda want to punch them in the face, up there with looking at 1 study vs all the studies. Never mind asshats like Dr Oz and Mercola who are charlatans.

Just completed my delayed chemo. How I wish I could hobby again.

The oncologist wanted me to endure it on Dec 20, I requested the New Year, didn't want to be sick for Christmas. I'm not out of the forest yet, have to take a weeks worth of injections to boost my immune system....good things I still wear a mask.

My problem is I hardly ever get nauseous but I have to stay hydrated. Chemo attacks me in a more vicious manner.

So sorry to hear you are suffering such a horrible ordeal. FWIW, I really wish you the best and hope you pull through with flying colours!

Everything tastes like chemo.

I've been in contact with Home Care, they told me that to restore my taste buds quicker I had to give up coffee. I took the collateral consideration of this statement...coffee was tasting like ass (chemo) anyway, no more coffee.

The good news is I take the last of my week long blood shots today. Home Care made the offer of sending over a nurse to give me the shot several times. I considered it a waste of tax payer money, I'm perfectly capable of giving myself the shot. Maybe my skinflint ways worked against me, I could have gotten a nurse that looks like Jessica Chastain.

I love Kim's Convenience, I was streaming the Netflix episode when I noticed the tasty Jewish pussy for the first time. If I ate it and she ended up tasting like chemo, there would be no rejoicing...booooo!

More and more nurses are now male.

Anyway, all my nurses and PSWs were female when I went for some tests back in September 2022. Yup, they saw everything when they shaved my genitals and helped give me a shower.

All the best to you von, you are one of the good guys.

Dartsy fuck, I didn't need that mental image in my head.

It appears my oncologist is giving me a break, I don't see her again until Jan 31. 2024 started out like hell warmed over. four round of chemo on the 4th and 5th. Followed by a week of blood shots starting on the 8th. For chemo I had a nurse who seemed to be a sweetheart only to find out she's rough as hell. She made four attempts to find a vein each time moving the needle around, if that wasn't enough she put her hand on the punctured area. She though everything was a ok, she wasn't paying attention to my eyes of fire and my clenched teeth underneath the mask.

I survived pneumonia, but it has left me devastated - spent 18 days in hell (the hospital).

I was just thinking of you yesterday!

Glad you survived and hope you will recover! Post chemo infections leading to pneumonia kills lesser men fighting cancer. Bravo Maestro, bravo! 👏

The way I see it, Tony Iommi has lived 12 years with non Hodgkin's Lymphoma. It would be brutta figura if I lasted less than a year.

Well, your presence on TERB is a perfect example of cutting a bella figura ! Salut!🍷

For those who don't know... “Bella figura goes well beyond image, visual beauty and presentation…it also is defined by behavior: knowing how to properly and graciously interact with others in any social or public situation. Exhibiting good manners, tact and gentility is an essential component of “cutting a beautiful figure”.”goes well beyond image, visual beauty and presentation…it also is defined by behavior: knowing how to properly and graciously interact with others in any social or public situation. I decided to reject chemo. I attended MD Anderson. They recommended Immunotherapy . After 8 infusion , i had no side effects and life is somewhat back to normal. I do go to MD Anderson every 6 months for checkup. There are so many immunotherapy for all different type of cancer available but health Canada has only approved few of them
That's very interesting.
Is your cancer still in remission??

I knew a guy with muscular dystrophy. Brutal fucking disease, it was pretty far along, couldn't move at the time.
When I met him, he was mid 20's and his maternal unit said he had already outlived his cohort. Lasted another 7 years.

Ya never know either way, outliers are out... and apperently liers? I donno man, I got nothing but comedic relief.

Make sure that doctors know that they need to give you a washout period. Drink as much water and rest. Many doctors are very aggressive in treatment and start chemo right away.

You're so right, my oncologist wants to see me already and I'm not even a day out of hospital.

They say the best things in life are free, so true, I may not have made it without the support of my sister and her daughters. However money does grease the wheels, I hired 24 hour nursing to get me through the weekend and bought a walker to rehab my mobility. 24 hr nursing is not covered by OHIP. All that midnight oil I burned in the 90's until 2015 is beginning to pay off.
