A lot of times this so called “ Willy hate” was incited by smart ass comments like the first line in his his post #101. I don’t think there were any negative things said about Willy in this thread this season but because Willy had a couple of great games (out of 9 now) he felt the urge to troll. He has that loser attitude that any time he can’t debate on point he’d bring out the hate card.
I agree.
I'm not sure if he's a real troll, somebody posting to generate action on the board or just an insecure guy who has to be absolutely right all the time,
always digging his heels in.
On the plus side, I find Nylander a little more aggressive and energetic and engaging on the forecheck, chasing guys down for take aways.
Defensively though he's so positionally unaware and lackadaisical, this is stuff you can improve on with desire and commitment.
Nylander's inner fire is only for offense, he has no inner fire to be the absolute best player he can be on every level.
Matthews and Marner have way more regular season points and more playoff points than Nylander. They're also top defensive forwards in the league and
do penalty killing. Nylander scores a few more goals in the playoffs and he becomes Moses on the Mount.

When Berube was signed I was excited about the culture and style change to come.
I was also very excited about Berube pushing Nylander to become the dominating player he's capable of being, especially at 11.5M.
He has games that he shows it but few and far in between.
Let's hope.

Fair comments on Nylander. Bottom line, it’s only been one month into a 6 (or 7 ) year contract, I’m keeping an open mind as to wether or not it’s a good contract. I’d also add that despite the unsatisfactory team records, I like the effort I see out of Matthews and I think he may be putting more pressure on himself being the captain now.

Leafs game on Amazon, I watched the intermission where a female commentator said the Leafs PP is hot, the Leafs PP is %10, don't know what the hell she is talking about. So for those who complain about CBC, Sportsnet and TSN being bad, think again.

I couldn't make any sense of Nylander's contract when I heard.
Then again I don't know how they project future salary caps and there's tax issues when you compete against American teams for signings.
Even still, last year was the only great year he had, and all his points came on the front end of the season, the easiest half of the year.
Only a 5 year term, no movement clause period, and still a one dimensional player.
If you're going to be one dimensional you better rack up a ton of points consistently for 55% bump in contract to 11.5M.

Nylander had 5 goals in 9 games coming into the Jets game. 6 in 10 now. That leads the Leafs.
His last 2 seasons were each 40 goals. 5 in 9 is on pace for 46. 6 in 10 is 49 goal pace.
In a nutshell he is on pace for another 40 goal season. No player scores every single game they play.

Both his assists were drawing the defender to him that was suppose to cover the D man.
For someone who supposedly never passes that was quite impressive.

Only 17 players last season scored 40 or more goals. There are 32 teams in the League.
That is 1 for every 2 teams. Leafs have 2.

Max P looks fantastic with JT. Big and strong which helps him make plays.
Leafs are doing the right thing by pacing him for the regular season to set him up for the playoffs.

This is the way Marner should be playing in the playoffs. Skating and without fear.

As shown by Matthew's gaffe in OT last game sometimes these things happen.
Rielly sliding and taking himself out of the play didn't help either.

Leafs have an under 10% power play success rate. Fix that and they'll be fine. The way Winnipeg zips the puck around fast is the way Toronto needs to do it.

+/- leader of all Leaf forwards is none other than Willy Nylander

3 points for Nylander. 3 points for Max Pac. Hattrick for Tavares.
That line looked really good, everyone came through large, they look synced.
Nylander even stepped into a scrum in front Patch when a couple of Jets were trying to jostle him, that's what I'm talking about.
Good on him for pushing his boundaries.
Those refs can suck my dick.

Timothy Liljegren traded to the Sharks for 3rd and 6th round picks and Matt Benning.

Probably npt a bad return for someone who was not part of their future.

It gives them a chance to get lucky on at least one of three.

I like the way Tavares is playing this year. I hope they re-sign him and he retires here.
