Someone tell Nylander that this is not his contract year cause you know he never performs otherwise.
btw, the other Nylander has 5 goals in 5 games for the Marlies.

Last year all of Tres signings were questionable in the early stages.
This year all his signings have been exceptional.
Tanev makes Rielly look like a legit defensive defenseman.
I didn't know OEL had a fiesty side.
Stolarz has had zero down moments.
Lorentz is a fantastic 4th liner. Big, strong, smart, can kill penalites.
Max P big, strong, hits, can score, former captain.
What's noteable of all these signings is that they are all big.

Somehow I don't see Robertson in the starting lineup for the playoffs.
His forte is his shot. He really doesn't have much of anything else so if he ain't scoring he ain't doing much.
Playoffs LW I see Knies, McMann, Max P, Lorentz. All 4 are big and can hit.
They could go into the playoffs with Marner being the only small player.
Have to say I was never much a fan of Timmons. He had defensive deficiencies but he's looked better lately.
Perhaps what he needed was consistent playing time.

Florida was once on par with Toronto and like Toronto had a good offensive team.
Then Florida became a very good defensive team on top of their offense.
Leafs finally came to their senses and are building and developing just that.

...That guy would block a shot with his crotch if he thought that'd clog a passing lane....
I saw one Habs game at the Montreal Forum, when I lived in Montreal, February 23, 1984, a 5-3 loss to the Winnipeg Jets. What I remember most about that game was that some defenseman for Winnipeg blocked two slapshots with his crotch.

Hildebeast not quite ready for prime time.
Emphasizes the value of Woll.

I wouldn't necessarily blame Hildeby it was a lacklustre team effort all around. The home and road back to backs are tough, particularly at the beginning and end of the season.

True, but there were times where a team was not on and the goalie alone keeps the game close. Those goals Hildy let in did look weak though. Samsonov had plenty of games last year where he looked like this before he was waived. If it's close it allows the team to exert energy for a comeback. Woll has done this where he was on and the team in front of him wasn't. Stolarz has given up a maximum of 2 goals in each game he played in this season. Leafs did score 2 goals. The game Stolarz lost to Montreal he only gave up 1.

Thanks to your reminder he’s a no show against Columbas.. His only excuse is he’s not the only one.

Five games into the season he’s played 2 good games, 1 so so game and two bad games (-3 against the Rangers). It’s a small sample so too early to be getting all horny over Willy.

I'm not surprised. More Willy hate.
He scores 3 goals in 4 playoff games and of course the haters ask how come he didn't score the other games.
Last season Willy had 3 long to very long scoring streaks so the haters had to wait a very long time in between these streaks but of course they pounced when he missed one or two games of not scoring.
Hey, Matthews had zero points in the first 3 games. These things happen.
I'm surprised the Matthews bashers didn't chime in and asked for a bag of pucks in a trade.
And of course you would point out a pass from Willy to Robertson like it's an anomoly.
The right play was to pass. That's why he did it. Willy passes all the time if it's the right play.
Always get the goalie moving if you can. The other time he shot the passing lane was covered.

After the last 2 games the Leafs are looking like the winter version of the Blue Jays.

Lots of rust on Woll tonight.

With your infatuation with Willy, any less flattering comments even true would be looked as hate. Matthews deserves criticism for how he played the past two game and Marner deserves just as much criticism for the first goal tonight as Willy for the 4th, but of I’d bet you’d say it’s all hate on Willy.

You're a big stats guy, why don't you dig up Willy's stats right after he signed the fat contract last year, from January to the end of the season.
He fell off a cliff.
He's playing with more energy and urgency without the puck this year thanks to Berube.

A lot of times this so called “ Willy hate” was incited by smart ass comments like the first line in his his post #101. I don’t think there were any negative things said about Willy in this thread this season but because Willy had a couple of great games (out of 9 now) he felt the urge to troll. He has that loser attitude that any time he can’t debate on point he’d bring out the hate card.
