Sens Win...Sens Win!!

Couldn't hit that empty net at all though the last few minutes.

Linus Ullmark has arrived...

Still wish the Leafs and their great fans success though..Just not against Ottawa, lol.

To the Leaf fans...Will Tavares be a Leaf next year?..He's consistently very good.

I hope Taveras won't be a Leaf next year. Taveras is getting too old!! The Sens have now won 6 in a row, and are only 4 pts behind the Leafs. Both teams have now played 66 games. Only 16 games to go, for both teams!!

I hope the Sens overtake the Leafs. Matthews looks totally awful!!

Congras ! Two teams going different directions. Sens will be my adopted team if they last longer than the Leafs in the playoffs. Luckily for the Leafs there’s still time to correct whatever the coaches see fit.

I believe this is the last kick of the can for Shanahan. Regardless who’s the opponent, if they go out in the first round, he’ll be gone and who knows what his successor will do with this roaster. Maybe they’ll keep Tavares for 5m and go after Bennett with money saved from letting Marner go.

Never fair to blame one player for the team failure, but a lot of fingers will be pointing at Marner’s direction just like last season. Rielly needs to step up big time. He’s being paid first pairing d man money but plays like the 6th or 7th.

Tavares will be on a very different contract next year. If the Leafs get him between $4-$6m (a home town type deal) he more than fine at the level.
His $11M contract is problematic this year, but at a reasonable deal next year his production is fine (56 points in 58 games)

Leafs aren't missing the playoff (as per a few points a page back)

They have a 10 point lead on the #9 team in the conference (Montreal), and a 9 point lead on the #8 team (Rangers). Both teams aren't catching the Leafs. Ottawa may catch them as they are only 4 points behind.

Right now it looks like Toronto will either be playing Tampa or Ottawa in the first round.

- Tampa would have to finish first for a Toronto-Florida matchup and that seems unlikely.
- As a #2 or #3 in the Atlantic, they play Tampa or Ottawa in first round.
- As #1 in the Atlantic, they get the #7 team in the East (which seems like it will be Tampa or Ottawa)

If they do finish 4th in the Atlantic, then they would play Florida.

Ottawa is is 4 pts behind both Toronto and TB and is trending up. They also have the tie breaker with Toronto having beaten them 3 times. Ottawa passing one of Toronto or TB or perhaps both is a real possibility.

Surprisingly Toronto has beaten TB all 3 times this season. Given that Toronto's only series win was against TB they could very well be the best opponent for Toronto of the 3 teams.

TB, Toronto, Ottawa could also end up in a 3 way tie.
Ottawa has over Toronto, Toronto has over TB, and TB has over Ottawa.
None of the 3 teams has a winning record against Florida this season.

I've always loved Tavares, but I think it may be time to move in another direction.
Marner as well.
There's been a malaise on this team, since we've gotten the top four together.
As individuals, they're top flight in their own ways, but as a collective, the chemistry is just awful.
It hasn't changed an iota since this team was put together.
This is probably the the most unwatchable team since Shanahan took over, even their wins feel completely flat.

Holy shit, shortly after I posted this, I got this video on my feed.
It's gotta be AI algorithm, never watched this show before.
Finally some honest, bullshit free analysis.
Toronto Maple Leafs - Ep 265 - The Tip In Maple Leafs Podcast

Fans need to see this organization for what it is, or else they won't push back and put some real heat on them.
Ironically, it's the red pill we need to swallow not the blue pill.

But the regular season is meaningless. LOL Talking about Tavares and next year has nothing to do with the playoffs.

The 1st NHL tie breaker apparently is regulation wins and not head to head matchup so TB has more than Toronto who has more than Ottawa.

I'll say it.
Nylander scored a magnificent goal last night. He played a good game all around.
There were some good efforts but Nylander and McCabe were the only drivers last night.

I have no preference who the Leafs are going to lose to if that’s the way it goes, might as well be the Sens so we still have an Ontario team for the second round. Push comes to shove, there’ll be a major restructuring job to look forward to in the off season. It’s part of the fun being a fan to see who’s leaving and who’s coming.

With that said, I think we fans need not panic just yet. Overall they’re still having a decent season, especially before the current slump. All teams have winning and losing streaks. I remember the Devils broke the NHL record for the longest winning streak a couple seasons ago but didn’t go very far in the playoffs. They may not be as entertaining as before but the positive side of me thinks that their style now may be better for the playoffs. I still believe that this is the best team in the core 4 era. Better size, grit, defence and goaltending. Only the special teams remain questionable.

I didn't understand the big deal made about Laughton before the trade deadline, and I understand it even lesss now. I don't mind them trading Grebenkin, but the 2027 first rounder will hurt.
