Woll injured .1 second of the last game. That was a bad sign.
That OT winner was a freebie. Samsonov can't read the play. He has to do the poke check there.

It's a shame. Against Florida I think with Woll they had a chance. With Samsonov not a chance.

By how the game was going, Nylanders goal should of iced it, but that was short lived...frustrating lol

The way they came back and forced game 7 might have saved some jobs. It’ll be the last kick of the can for the core four until Tavares and Marner’ contracts expire at the end of next season.

The contracts for Klingberg and Brodie will come off the books and I hope Treliving will use that to find more capable replacements; McMann and Knies will play more significant roles.

I give them an A for effort but it wasn’t good enough, but at least there’s hoping that next year Woll will get us to the promised Land.

Samsonov was very good until the last Moment.

the effort was not there in games 1 and 4,
had it been , they could have continued to play hockey instead of golf next week

I saw it differently. They won game two but lost game 3, 4 and 7 because Swayman was better than Samsonov and the pp was awful. I have no complaints about the effort. I only remember the stupid penalties in game one lol.

The dominos will start falling soon. I think Marner is on his way out. Treliving might hire another coach. Shanahan should start packing. Stamkos might be available if he doesn’t re-sign with Tampa. It’s a game 7 OT loss….but still only 1 series win in like 20 years. And Dubas gave away all the draft pics. Someone has to make these tough decisions.

Marner has a NMC. So him on the way out won't be easy. JT needs to go but he also has a NTC. Dubas left the team in a cap and draft cupboard mess.

Only if Marner will waive his no trade protection which I doubt. If Shanahan is fired then it’s up to the next President to decide Treliving’s fate. I’d think the new president will keep Treliving as a possible scapegoat just as Treliving had kept Keefe. Treliving now has the option of replacing Keefe with his own hand picked coach.

We already have an over the hill Tavares so we don’t need Stamkos to join the senior home.

Injuries have impacted the Leafs more significantly than the Bruins in this series. Nylander, Matthews, McMann and Woll were missed in multiple games. There was also a significant in season injury to Woll because it affected his performance after he came back. Had he been healthy and not affected by that injury, he would have started game 1 and I doubt the Bruins would have led by 3-1 after 4 games.

I realize I’m sounding a lot like our Leaf resident apologists, but I’m just giving you my honest options as a critic.

Marner’s contract is over in 2025. And they will not re-sign him. So yeah slim chance they can trade him. But Stamkos can still play and he’s a shooter. I would sign him if he’s available. I think Treliving is safe. Not much he could do anyways. I wish he traded for Matt Dumba…but Tampa got him. That was a mistake. A right handed defenseman. Too many left handed shots on defense.

Boston had a very good regular season but they are not a powerhouse team. Florida is going to blow up Boston in a big way. I would be surprised if Boston even wins 2 games in this series. So Toronto can make all the excuses they want. This guy injured or that guy injured. This upcoming series won’t even be close. Boston will return home down 2-0

He could've signed Dumba instead of Kilingberg.

The problem is that they didn't play that way enough earlier on in the series and they put themselves in a position where there was no room for error in the last three games. They were much grittier this year.

Of the core 4, Marner is the one least capable of playing playoff hockey. If they're gonna trade a big piece, he'd be the one I'd let go. I also thought that Tavares really gutted it out and played physically. And Knies was the epitome of a power forward. Similar to Eric Stahl. And this was just his rookie year.

Time to break up the core 4. Matthews, Nylander staying. That Means Marner and Tavares are gone. That means Matthews is the captain. Knies and Woll need contracts soon.
