Do these people know what they‘re talking about when they say ”this is the end of the core “ ? Correct me if I’m wrong, Matthews/Tavares/Nylander/Marner/Rielly are all on contract for 2024-2025 and beyond with no trade protection. They’ll stick around for at least another year.
Treliving had a chance to break up the core four last year before Marner’s no trade kicked in and also before he resigned Nylander. He missed that chance. The only big change he can make for next season is to fire Keefe and the coaching staff. Then it’s up to ownership if they want to replace Shanahan and/or Treliving.

Faith no more, the perfect analogy for the current smores eaters. I disagree with firing Treeliving, he's only had one year to fuck up. The current fiasco is on Shanahan and Dubas. The course of the franchise was set during the fateful 2015 entry draft - more once they are put out of their misery. Mark Hunter was responsible for that cosmic fart.
This should be the Loafs theme song next season.

Have some faith! The Leafs in 7! This will exorcise our demons, beating the Bruins in embarrassing fashion. Image, they come in first two season in a row, and drop 3-1 advantages in game 7. It'll make the 2013 Leafs collapse look pale in comparison.....
Ok, I admit, the odds of this happening are slim to nil....but, you never know. Florida did it last year. And the Flyers did it to Boston in 2010....

I think the Leafs will put in dominant effort tonight only to lose in heartbreaking fashion in OT.
To be honest the most important error was giving such a contract to Tavares instead of 2-3 defensive player. A guy like Savard in Montreal could have so much help in Leafs defense while helping the team player respect each other (Savard is a silent colossal leader). And make them learn what playoff hockey is.
I would fire the coach because he does not seem to realize what is needed to get his team into playoff hockey. Probably a super technician of the game but playoff needs more than that.
The Leafs were ridiculed by Marchand in 2 games and have not replied! They don't need to kill the guy just pass a fucking message. Just one smash to the face or rub his face on the ice.

Leafs started a goalie for the playoffs who they had put on waivers mid season going unclaimed.
Has that ever happened before in the history of the NHL.
Samsonov 2023/24 regular season 3.13 GAA .890 SV%
Samsonov 2024 playoffs 3.32 GAA .883 SV%
Samsonov won't be here next year.
Woll will be one of the goalies next year and could very well be the starter.
They should have tuned him up better after his injury.
He was clearly better than Samsonov before his injury and it wasn't even close.
Last playoffs vs Florida Woll started game 4 when Samsonov was injured.
Leafs won that game. Woll only let in one goal.
He had to since Leafs scored exactly 2 goals in each of their 5 games.
He stopped 24 shots for a .960 SV%. It was their only win in that series.
The next game they lost in OT. Woll was still spectacular.
Stopped 40 shots for a .930 SV%.
Final Leaf goalie stats vs Florida in that 5 game series:
Woll 2.36 GAA .921 SV%
Samsonov 3.10 GAA .892 SV%
In the 6 games vs TB last playoffs Samsonov had a 3.14 GAA and .900 SV%
Leafs won by pumping in goals not because Samsonov was great.
If Leafs are only pumping in 2 goals a game spectacular goaltending is required.
Leafs scored 303 goals in the regular season. Only Colorado scored more with 304
