I can see it now. All sports should start using tennis balls and only tennis balls.
Basketball will dribble Penns down the hard court.
Hockey players will stickhandle the Wilsons down the ice.
Baseball pitchers will throw Dunlops at a wicked 50 mph.
Cause you know those are the balls tennis uses.
All sports should conform.
When I use to play shinny/road hockey as a kid we did use tennis balls instead of a puck. LOL!

I deleted my post because I'd rather not get into this nonsense irrational discussion about tennis that some person who doesn't watch basketball started in a Leaf thread of all places.
Evidence of irrational ... Jose Theodore should be a Hall of Famer

In the hockey shootout videos, they did say the player does get a second attempt if he/she/they didn't touch the puck in the first attempt.

I think the same rule applies in tennis if the server tosses the ball up in the air and doesn't hit the ball with his racquet. Yes, I've seen servers toss the ball in the air and swings and misses the ball. He/she/they get to start the process all over again.

The person who initially raised the 2nd serve issue in tennis wasn't me.

Back to regularly scheduled All Things Leafs

Panthers have lost their last 4 games.
Leafs 2 games in hand and 6 pts behind.

M. Rielly has jumped J. Tavares in the points leader board

People with open minds have been debating eliminating the second serve for years
And the consensus has been the same every single time. It will never happen.

FYI, I'm done with this topic. Apologies.

Shots on goal last game:
Leafs 46
Cannucks 21

Save % last game:
Jones .714
Demko .913

When Vancouver shot they made it count.

Vancouver has the best goal differential in the league at +57 and they're 8-1-1 in their last 10
Next best is Winnipeg at +45 and 9-1-0 in their last 10.
Edmonton is 13-0-0 in their last 13.
Like Bozak, Kessel, and Kadri before him Hyman could very well win a cup.

Finally the Leafs get back to the win column beating the Krackens 3:1 tonite. Samsonov did well.

Leafs PK this season is ranked 27th tied with Chicago.
Last season they were 11th tied with Washington.
The PK was the difference in the Vancouver game.
That and save percentage of .714 for Jones

This season their primary D on PK is Brodie and Giordano
Last season it was Holl and Brodie
In Detroit Holl is ranked 5th in Defensemen usage on the PK averaging 1:08 minutes per game and 15:05 total TOI
In Toronto last year Holl averaged 3:03 on the PK and 20:14 Total Time on Ice average per game.
So Holl is getting paid more and playing less.

Leafs PP was 2nd last year behind only Edmonton.
This year they are 8th. TB is 1st and Boston 3rd.

I think that a big difference in the stats is the goaltending. Samsonov may have had a career year last year. He was very solid and for good chunks of time as well. This year has been a disaster. Once Woll went down, our lack of goalie depth was severely exposed. I'm not saying that that's the sole problem but it's a big factor. Good goalies can hide big flaws with the skaters. But he a solid start last night.

As for Holl, he was a disaster. It seemed like he made at least 1 egregious blunder every game and maybe it was bad luck but every one of his mistakes seemed to end up in the net. A few weeks into the season somebody posted how Holl was tied for the league lead in +/- at +8. He's still at +8. He logged big minutes and was a team player but it was very frustrating watching him play.

(Note: I didn't bold my post. It came like that.)
"Jose Theodore is one of only 3 players ever, and by far the most recent, to win the Hart trophy and not get in to the Hockey Hall of Fame"
https://www.reddit.com/r/Habs/comments/flrtbq
Jose Theodore is nowhere close to a deserving Hall of Famer. As a Habs fans, and Leafs hater, I am very comfortable saying this.

But let's continue the stupidity. Every eligible player who has won the Norris Trophy is in the Hall of Fame, except for Randy Carlyle. RANDY CARLYLE should be in the Hall of Fame.

Ryan Reaves is not only terrible his public comments are certainly drawing the ire of the NHL Of course the NHL knows that teams abuse the LTIR (Leafs have done a good job at it this year), but don't want players openly talking about actually being healthy while on LTIR.

Reaves has put the Leafs in a pickle.

I think Curt Joseph was a pretty good goalie but he probably will never be in the HHOF.

His case seems comparable to Mike Vernon and Tom Barrasso who had to wait about 15 years after become eligible. I think his time might come in the next 10 years but it’s not a guarantee.

The historical crop from that era Roy, Hasek, Brodeur all got in as soon as eligible the rest had to wait.

Samsonov stood on his head tonight including 3 saves on a 2 man, short-handed breakaway. The last save was the best.

He got a standing "O" with the fans yelling "Sammy, Sammy". He said that it almost made him cry.

Otherwise, the Leafs looked atrocious.

Austin Matthews finally earned his pay by scoring the winning goal with 1.07 minute left in OT.
