What do you mean? (I can see why the Mona Lisa thing would trip you, but what about Bautista?) It isn't supposed to be believable, it's an Agatha Christie-style mystery with social commentary.
If I'd never been to the Louvre, I wouldn'y have had a w...what moment. The French have a guilty conscience when it comes to Leonardo. They protected him for The Inquisition only to have his tomb desecrated during The French Revolution. His remains have been lost to history. As to Dave Bautista, it was a matter of Duke's trust. I don't want to spoil it for others who may want to see the film.

The first film was so cohesive that not much suspension of disbelief was required...and it had a certain aged rapscallion taking part.

Fair enough.

I disagree about Dave, but that they were deliberately going broader in this one seemed obvious to me so those aspects didn't bother me.

Adam Driver as Enzo Ferrari...I like the cast but I'm afraid that Shailene Woodley will annoy me to death.

Luc Besson (La Femme Nikita) is back in his wheelhouse with another hitwoman film. With the success of The Americans, there is a ready audience for espionage thrillers. Available on Netflix, should this be called Daughter of La Femme Nikita. Anne Parellaud played Nikita in the 1990 film. Anna is played by Sasha Luss who was born in Magadan Siberia, site of Joseph Stalin's most notorious labour camp.

Nicholas Hoult is riding the crest of a wave, he is Renfield. Now he's working alongside The GOAT.

Nicholas Hoult smashed his way out of YA hell with Mad Max:Fury Road. During the fight sequence, Tom Hardy did the Lord Humongous run and George Miller fell out of his chair laughing. The actors had a WTF look on their faces, not knowing what was going on. Part of Hardy's schlep did make it into the film.

Tom Hardy made a Wild Bunch film after all - without Gerard Butler and Idris Elba. They have been replaced by Michael Shannon and Austin Butler.

The film is set for release this summer.

This fight scene is so well choreographed.

With Daniel Day Lewis retired is Christian Bale No. 1.

I had to check if The Pale Blue Eye was based on fact. Bale plays a detective investigating a sequence of murders at West Point. The trail gets cold until he gets the help of a young cadet named Edgar Allan Poe. Poe is such a mysterious figure that anything about him is welcome. He died at age 40, who knows what he may have achieved had he lived longer.

The original, by Peckinpah, has one of the greatest opening scenes in the history of movies.

I wonder if they'll try for the same type of thing here.

Not the same, The Wild Bunch were a crime family fronted by Mark Strong in Guy Ritchie crime comedy RocknRolla. The Bikeriders is about a motorcycle club that devolves into crime, I'm assuming Michael Shannon takes on the Strong role.

To be perfectly honest everything after The Empire Strikes Back was shit. Star Wars fans ate it up anyway. There weren't that many good Star Trek films either.

Saw my 2nd and 3rd films since pandemic:

"The Menu" -good black comedy/satire about celebrity worship/drinking kool-aid. Anya Taylor Joy's character reminds me of her role in "Split": being held captive, then using psychology to escape. No one plays creep better than Ralph Feinnes.

7.5/10

"Babylon" - comedy/drama about early days of Hollywood moving from silents to talkies. Great cinematography, a visual feast. Margot Robbie was fantastic. it was given so-so reviews, but decided to take a chance, it was 3 hours long, held my attention through out, the time flew by. Toby Maguire scene was hilarious.

8/10.

I'd written off Babylon, even with Ready or Not dream girl Samara Weaving in it. 8/10 is high praise.

Now that their films have been rendered shitterloafes, it's time for Daisy Ridley and Gal Gadot to take acting lessons.

Ive watched Ready or Not 5 times now, still love it. Except for Dreamgirl and Andi McDowell an entirely Canadian cast.

She's so sweet when she horks!

Saoirse Ronan has unreal range, I wasn't expecting the quiet but tragic performance she gave in Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel. It was in contrast to the zaniness of the rest of the film, without her humanity the film may have been exhausting to watch.
