Hey just a question ... I like Sundin and he has been a great Leaf but has
this Guy ever been in the top ten in scoring while in a Leaf uniform...

Twice.

96-97 with 94 points he was 7th. Lemieux was first.

01-02 with 80 points he was 4th. Iginla was first.

Well, after another loss I have a theory:

Notice that before Sunbeam came back the team was winning? I think the whole team is looking too much from Sunbeam and is resting on their laurels (though not their hardy's).

I say bench sunbeam for a few games and let the others step up again, like they did at the beginning.....

It's Paul Maurice's job to turn this team around. It is a complete lack of 3rd period energy and performance that has led to this situation.

If they can't finish with a .500 record in December, Paul Maurice must be fired.

.. Hey ..Paul's big test will be how he deals with this losing streak ..

...and he better start dealing with it YESTERDAY !!!..

If there are some floaters, time to bench them...as far as Sundin goes, it's his responsibility to grab this team by the scruff of the neck..and get them back on track. This team is not as good as it seemed earlier..and is not as bad as it is playing now..It would be nice if someone on this team could take a shot, from let's say the high slot, and actually put some steam on it, and make a goaltender work for a save. During their winning streak, there was a lack of this as well..just that some soft shots, and scrambly goals were going in..now they are not.

A good time to start would be tomorrow night at Joe Louis Arena. Although Detroit is a fast team, I think they are easily intimidated by physical play, and in games I've seen them play this year, very prone to turning over the puck against agressive forechecking...something the Leafs were doing very well when they were winning. This Leafs team should make the playoffs and win in the 1st round... anything less should be considered a failure, and a couple of jobs should be at stake, namely Maurice and JFJ..not to mention a few players...

the issue with the leafs is purely a coaching issue this time. the team isn't any different than what it was for the 1st 10 games of the season (rosterwise). personally, i think Maurice gets out coached... hence, why it shows on the scoreboard usually late in the games (3rd period blowups)... the talent is there on the leafs, but the bench management is not there... ie. penalties like too many men, hooking and interference are all reflective of who Maurice matches up with who and at what critical times... he's simply been outcoached as of late. the talent is there- just the direction given to the talent is not.

I really do think Paul Maurice's job is on the line right now. JFJr has to protect his own ass.

There are some good quality coaches available and they may get scooped up soon as the situations are also not good in St. Louis and now Pittsburgh, too. We probably will see some firings through the next 30 days. My advice to JFJr is to do something fast.

Funny how Don Cherry said during his segment that they shouldn't have put sundin back in the lineup until he was needed....Hmmm not bad advice DOH considering I said that previously in this thread heheheh

Don Cherry must be gettin' old... keep Sundin a healthy scratch???

I think whenever he's game ready, he should play... but, what i don't agree with, is how Paul Maurice fucked up the highly productive line by inserting Sundin into it. It killed all production. Bad coaching move, IMO.

Maurice is gonna be fired soon if the team goes on a 10 game slide...

29 goals against in 7 games is disgusting. especially, when they were once 3rd in points in the east.

...and i guess 9th place for the leafs came faster than i expected... (i said 9th by monday night)
