TORONTO, ONTARIO – A York Region teacher has been banned from teaching in Ontario following a finding of professional misconduct for sexually abusing a student.

Taher Saifuddin, 47, of Toronto, who taught at several schools in Toronto and Markham, has had his teaching licence revoked by the Ontario College of Teachers following a disciplinary hearing.

The college found that between February and July 2020, Saifuddin sent sexually explicit videos and messages to a male student over social media, made sexual comments including asking about his sex life, and requested photographs of his girlfriend. He also touched the student's inner thigh and penis without consent. The student provided evidence via video statement.

The college stated that the revocation of his licence was justified because of the severity and intrusive nature of the abuse, the pattern of grooming, and the breach of trust in their teacher-student relationship. The student reported feeling scared and sick, and worried about being kicked out of school.

Saifuddin argued the penalty was too harsh given his lack of prior disciplinary record and desire to rehabilitate. His criminal charges, including sexually assaulting a minor in 2020, were stayed by the Ministry of the Attorney General in July 2021

Are you implying that white men don't do these things?
