Canada is still low on the trajectory. There may still be time to make the curve deflect to the right.

A friend of mines account of what happened in Italy while he was there for a few days on business just over 3 weeks ago, at the time there was less than 100 confirmed cases and not only him but everyone there kept on minimizing the affects of the Coronavirus and telling people everything was safe there, nothing to be concerned about and to go on about your daily lives as this targets mostly the elderly.
Within 3 days of him being in Milan there were more than 400 confirmed cases in Italy and he flew out and back here, that was February 27th. When he came back he was even planning to go back again the beginning of April, he said the last day when the number had hit 400 confirmed cases there were clearly less people on the streets but still he didn't think much of it and people there did not worry too much.
Now it's almost 3 weeks later and Italy's confirmed cases are at over 30 000 with a whopping 2500 dead because of the virus.
He said exactly what happened in Italy is happening now in the U.S.A. And Italy is only 1/5 of the population in the U.S.

I don't know how many times I've said this since the Coronavirus has been affecting other nations across the globe, but here it is again.
The only reason China was able to contain the spread of the virus is that China very early on took the drastic measures of locking down 400 Million people across certain areas of the country and enforcing these measures if needed to be by force. And the only way any other country can contain this virus is through mass and enforced quarantines.

So people absolutely need to be concerned with the Coronavirus and need to stop being around other people as to not spread this virus without knowing.

Wasn't it just yesterday or the day before when Canada had less than 200 cases and today it's over 400. And these are only the known cases.

Originally voted no on this poll.

I'l like a third option now for "Getting concerned".

I'll be so happy once there is an assurance this is under control.
I'm confident about the drastic steps that the government is taking (although late with border closing). My concern is that most people don't take this seriously and still getting careless out there.

I wonder what would happen if you were quarantined, how would you get your money from the bank if you can't even get to the ATM? I guess you would have to leave your bank card in the mailbox and have someone you trust go get your cash for you.....

Or maybe send an e-transfer to someone you trust and have them bring you money. That could work.

It's ironical that Trudeau the Elder brought in the War Measures Act and now Trudeau the Younger is considering bringing in the Emergencies Act.

After what I see in some people with their attitude towards this virus, there is no hope to flatten the curve in 3 weeks. Prepare for shut down, curfew, quarantine as the number of cases rises.

The current status of Canada particularly Ontario is a bit of a concern...the numbers are skewed as it only reflects those who are tested. I would multiply it to 2. But the amount of panic among people and the projection in the forums (not just here) I'm getting sick and tired of. Suddenly we are all experts about this...sharing articles like "the virus can remain in the air for hours..." "it can go on apartment vents" blah blah blah...don't share all the articles you read if you know yourself it's unproven theories...if all these articles are true...all the passengers in plane where the first infected was should then be infected...that wasn't the case.

I think there is a certain amount of mass hysteria going on here driven by the media, government bureaucrats and politicians.

To me, the case explaining the danger of corona virus has to be made mathematically in order to get some perspective; so, I'm going to do a little math to put things in clearer perspective.

America has a population of about 330 million people.
On average a person who is alive on January 1 of each year has about a 1.25 per cent chance of being dead by the time December 31 rolls around.
That means about 4.125 million people die each year in the USA out of a population of 330 million.

With 4.125 million people dying each year that mean about 11,300 Americans die each day of the week.
Since this is the 78 th day of 2020 that meas roughly 881 thousand Americans have died since January 1, 2020.
According to CNN today , there are 112 deaths in the USA this year caused by Corona virus. And virtually all of them are over the age of 50.

That means that out of all US deaths this year the percentage caused by corona virus is about 0.00013 per cent or much much less than 1 per cent.
Overall about one out of every 7,500 deaths in the USA this year is caused by Corona virus.

It seems odd to me that there is virtually no concern or worry about the effects that obesity, hypertension, and diabetes on US death rates this year. I bet these 3 factors are involved in deaths of half of US population who die this year. But, no concern by media, politicians and government bureaucrats, - all focus must be on the thing that is responsible this year for one out of every 7,500 US deaths this year.

I will change my mind if someone can make a mathematical case for why I should be completely losing my mind. There are a lot of things to be worried and concerned about in the world today; but, I'm not losing much sleep over Corona until someone makes a compelling mathematical argument about why I should be worried.

I'm math guy too. Too lazy to explain. But take a look at Italy's rate of transmission infection for covid19 and the consequences that came along with it. That alone should scare you.

Apparently there are 30+ year olds in Ontario whose health conditions have escalated and are hospitalized. They do not have any previous medical conditions.
