Borrowing from The Sound of Music; “How do you solve a problem like Kikuchi?” Three year contract. Can’t keep running him out there every 5th day to get shelled. Can’t afford automatic-loss day. Can’t see him being effective in the bullpen. Send him down to the minors maybe like they did with Halladay back in the day to get his act together?
He's not helping them at all and they can't afford to lose every 5th game (except the odd time when there is an offensive miracle). So sending him to the minors and hoping he finds his game is perhaps the best option. No chance of trading him.

Quite the dilemma when Jansen gets back. I say send Moreno back to Buffalo, hopefully Jano starts hitting again, showcase his offense , then trade him for some much needed pitching, then bring Moreno back up.
Put Kirky in centre field. Springer's getting dinged up quite a bit these days.

not a bad idea , Kirby Puckett was 5'8" also and was kinda slow, he was a CF also!
He got more portly as he got older. He had decent quickness. He would've easily out-raced Kirk to the buffet table.

Puckett was only 180lb.s for most of his career. Stole 20 bases twice and had over 400 doubles. He wasn't slow by any means.

Great ball player actually.

I wonder if Moreno could play third.........Would solve a lot of problems down the road.

SOS!!!!!! Jays need pitching help big time ASAP. Another Jays starter is struggling. The Jays are losing 8-3 and it's still in the 2nd inning and this seems to be a recurring theme with Berrios. He started the season as the Ace of the rotation. Yikes! His ERA should be north of 6 after today. They will need an another offensive miracle to win this one which is the case almost everytime Kikuchi starts. Gausman's has had issues as discussed already in this thread. That leaves Manoah and Stripling (yes the supposed swingman) as the only reliable starters. Combined with Romano's recent blown save and some other so so performances from the bullpen, there is reason to worry. Can't compete with the big boys like the Yankees with pitching like this.

As a Yankee fan I can tell you that it was no fun watching them get no hit yesterday and they don't have one through the first 5 as I post this.

Grrr......

My grades for the starters so far this season:
Manoah A+
Stripling B+
Gausman C
Berrios D-
Kikuchi F
Ryu F
Not nearly good enough. Time to get some pitching. Either have to trade some of their top prospects and/or some current position players. Gurriel? Hernandez? Biggio? Janssen? Espinal? Maybe even Springer?

It's not about who gets there first. It's about who's still there 2 hours later chomping down that 37th crabs' leg.

My money's on AK.

As far as centre field is concerned, if Kirk can get to it, he can catch it.....

Pete Walker seems to be a sacred cow. Pitchers are regressing. And does he not participate in the pre-game planning which includes pitch selections? Yet he gets none of the blame.

And has it been forgotten the DUI in March?? Let him go at the end of season - or for sure if they do not make play offs

I'll watch more closely but I am not so sure pre-game planning was the issue in the last two games. Pitchers have to follow the game plan and they have to execute. Kikuchi shakes off a lot of calls from the catcher and could not find plate with several pitches. Berrios' two best pitches are his fastball (consistent location) and his slider/curve breaking pitch. Yesterday he could not locate his fastball and his breaking pitch did not break sharply as it does when he is pitching well.

With Kuchi, it's psychological, he should take a page from Mark Buehrle's pitching handbook, never shake off catcher,
With Berrios, it's mechanical.

Jay's next 8 games are crucial to stay in WC race:

3 vs Bosox

5 vs Rays (double header on Sat.)

Fuck Kuchi, send him to Buffalo, in his place I would start Thornton , followed by Castillo, they were great on Sat.
Hopefully Berrios can turn things around against TB.

Quality start from Gausman today. Pheew! Even if he continues to pitch like this most of the time, I still think Jays need more pitching. And I agree with unassuming, Romo is not part of the solution.
