The Jays have a lot going for them this off-season. Unfortunately for the front office, as the MLB general managers meetings get underway in California, a lot of other teams can claim the same, Gregor Chisholm writes.
Berrios signs a seven year extension around $130 million.
"Of all the #BlueJays players it'll soon be Jose Berrios who's under contract the longest. This deal will run through 2028, two years beyond the Springer contract & three years beyond the last year of team control for Vlad & Bo. Of course further extensions could change that."
Should try to lock up Junior and Bo sooner rather than later.

I like this guy's take. Pitchers like Berrios don't grow on trees. He's been quite durable too. Good signing.
Exactly, the Braves signed Acuna to an 8 year $100 million contract two years ago and that’s going to be a bargain.
If and that is a big if, the Jays sign both Ray and Semien, the Jays will have 4 $100mm plus players. Imagine that!

Not a surprise. (Junior was second.) Ohtani has the advantage of being both a batter and a pitcher. Does that mean he will be the MVP favourite every year?
As long as he can keep up the above average/super star stats as a hitter and pitcher
They do but the Jays would be ok with that if they can get 3 or 4 solid full seasons from Berrios.
He'd be one of the best 5th starters in the AL, at least.
But, I understand the Ray and Semien point.

Ain't gonna happen, thankfully. He would not be good for team chemistry. He's not a team player.
As well, he burned his bridges with management.
