Obviously the additions over the past month or so have greatly improved the team and their chances... no doubt they have a lot of talent.. and they are much more consistent than they have been as a .500 team...

They still have to win at least 34 of their remaining 56 games... that is a .607 clip... with their talent it is quite doable... and if they make it, they have what it takes to go all the way to the WS...

Fan Graphs project their chance of making the playoffs at 40.7%... but that is on paper... when I see them play... especially the energy that Springer brings... I think their chances are much better than that...

Again, kudos to Shatkins... they saw where the team's weaknesses were and did an excellent job of plugging the holes... (injuries play a role, but) only 14 of the opening day roster will take the field tonight against the Sox...

Beyond doubt, the next 8 weeks will be fun... will Toronto's baseball fever reignite?

That’s true, however the A’s suffered a huge setback today. Their excellent center fielder, Ramon Laureano, was suspended for 80 games for PEDs.

I would have traded Biggio. He’s just not progressing and he could have been traded for more pitching.

And Espinal is looking pretty damn good.

I really have to question your IQ. There's a lot more to baseball then that.
Gallo was a gold glove winner in 2020, so you're getting a player that can give you good defense.
And like I previously said he's also elite in slugging (hitting 40+ homers in 2017 and 2018), .OPS and .OBP.

I said I think he’s over rated, mainly because his name gets thrown around like some of the other elite players in MLB, and because he has a life time BA of .220, I don’t think he belongs in that group.

Per the linked graph, all of the teams in the top 11 are playoff teams right now except for Toronto and Atlanta (I expect Atlanta will win the NL East as they are on;y a game out of first)

This team is similar to the 2015 team that had a high run differential, stored up their pitching in the second half of the season and went on a tear to win the division. Hopefully history will repeat itself.

I was a Rowdy fan but no regrets trading him. I'd be willing to bet that at some point he resorts to form.

And no his slugging % and OPS don't make up for it. His slugging % is high because of the HR's and his OPS is high because of the walks, so were right back to where we started..lol. Walks aren't a replacement for a good average. They help, but they're just not the same as they usually don't produce the same result as hit.

How in God's name are you putting yourself in the mind of the Yankees GM???

Nice to see the Jays show some attitude, their series with the Red Sox have been cordial in the past to Boston's benefit.

Is it just me or is Giancarlo Stanton not a NY type of guy. He's always looked ill at ease, like he'd be anywhere but in pinstripes. He took the money, in Miami he had everything and he got to work out with Dwyane Rocco Johnson. After living in Florida, NYC can be a splash of ice water to the groin.

Shark Girl recently visited NYC, she got no hot beef knish.

okay I’ll meet you half way in this, because maybe it’s just semantics here.

I just feel like he gets a lot of attention and his name sometimes gets mentioned in that top tier of players, and I don’t think it should. If you combine his HR’s, walks and defense, he’s a very good player, but not in the 200/300 million guys. He’ll get like 100-150 million

A perfect example is in my fantasy league. When the Yankees aquired him, they talked about it the same way when Mookie Betts was moved, and it’s not the same at all.


Thats what I’m trying to say.

like phil, would you rather have teoscar Hernandez or Gallo? Tough call right? Hernandez has power and average, but is not the defensive player Gallo is so it’s close, but you would never hear teoscar’s name been thrown around the way Gallo’s does.
