Vladdy's bat speed seems slower, and he's put on a lot of weight from what I can see, he must have couched potatoed during the covid layoff. We need more "Plakata" from him.

Nate Pearson has been placed on the 10 Day IL.

Nate Pearson is trying to hard, they brought him up too soon and he looks like Brandon Morrow.

If I was Atkins, I'd give Ferguson Jenkins a call. He's 77, if he still has his health, have him come up and tutor the kid. His mound etiquette is awful, he's tipping his pitches and he gets flustered when he walks a batter.

Jenkins had 284 wins with over 3000 strikeouts, he'll know how to calibrate the kid properly.

Interesting quote from Ferguson Jenkins on pitching to Mark McGwire while the androstenedione taking hitter was after the home run record.

"Pitchers today are too accommodating, I would put him on his ass".

I did meet Jenkins at Pearson, he was reading an Outdoor Life magazine. One of the rare instances that I asked for an autograph.

Blue Jays sweep a double header from Philly, winning the second game after being down 7-0. No quit with this team. 5 wins in a row, now above .500, and would be in the playoffs if the season ended now, all without their best hitter, Bo Bichette, and with their pitching “phenom” Nate Pearson being ineffective and now injured. All in all, pretty impressive.

Those were the days. Pitchers logged 300 innings a season and often won 30 games.

And Bob Gibson would cut you down if you dared to dig in against him or hit him for extras.

Androstendione never worked all that well. He just said he was using it because it was available over the counter at the time.

He was using anabolic androgenic steroids.

Notice he clammed up about it when he testified before congress. Uttering ''I'm not here to talk about the past''.

Dude is a cheat plain and simple.

Finally I get to nitpick George, Jim Bagby 1920 - 31 Wins.

Here's a record that will never be topped: Walter Johnson had two succesive 30 win seasons. 31 in 1912 and 36 in 1913.

Mystical baseball fans say that he was reincarnated as Nolan Ryan - The Big Train, The Ryan Express.

My apologies for marking Mr. Bagby's 30 win season as 1930.
Though, that would've been even more impressive, he'd have been 40 during that baseball season!

Begbie never pitched in the Majors.

The customers of the parking lot are going to need Tellez insurance.

For a big imposing man, he has an impish personality. He's not outgoing like Vladdi but he does the little things that de-stresses the dugout. Anyone remembers Bo's first home run, he got the silent treatment. Maybe he didn't see Rowdy or else he would have busted out laughing. Rowdy was sitting with one arm folded and his index finger on his chin, looking completely lost in a daydream.
