OK..lets agree that measuring a manager is more difficult than a player. No batting average, ops, era to look at. Here are my grades for Gibbons....feel free to agree or disagree
Setting the Line up - C - stubborn leaving Tulo where he doesn't belong, too much faith in Martin and Pillar
Pitching decisions - B - would have been higher except for his bungling of last Price start
Leadership - D - no evidence of him inspiring the troops - lack of energy and fire as a manager
Media relations - A - has he ever said anything to get himself into trouble, the Texas old boy thing seems to work here - will it work in playoffs?
Wants to win real bad - C - sure he wants to win - but way too accepting of losses
Track Record - C -
Handling of umpires - C - A little too slow in dealing with bad calls, his after game comments after KC series too kind
Personal habits - spitting - not shaving everyday - scratching - sitting and not standing during games ---------no grade
