If Stroman comes back as a starter it might be a rotation of

Price,
Buerhle,
Estrada,
Stroman

and everyone else in the bullpen for the playoffs.
A lot may come down to who is hot in August and September for starting positions slots in playoffs and Hutch has a chance if he keeps doing what he's done in his past two starts.
Or spot start Hutch at Rogers Centre.

I'm not sure why you'd drop R.A. Dickey from the rotation.

Since June 1st, he has an e.r.a. of 3.06, a w.h.i.p. of 1.25
Take out his most recent start (last night) and that drops to 2.71 & 1.18

You want to take that guy out of the rotation & add Stroman who hasn't thrown a pitch yet this season?

Yea, Dickey's been pretty good since the beginning of June, I've got to give him that.

On the total season, Buehrle, Estrada, and Price have lower ERA's while Stroman was slated to be their opening day starter.
Hutch can be an intriguing option because he's pretty good when he throws his fastball for strikes and it's moving. Plus I like the way he hates losing so much.
Dickey is only effective if his knuckle pitch is not spinning. If it's spinning on any given day the trajectory becomes much more predictable and the hitters will kill it.

To me the only lock is Price. The other starters have flaws and question marks attached to them and hence may not be in the rotation if the Jays make it to a divisional series in the playoffs.
A lot comes down to who's got the mojo in September.

I dont understand why Pillar doesnt sac bunt in the 5th.
He lays one down, Revere gets a single and its 4-2

Buckle up for a potentially unpleasant road trip. Jays are NOT a good road team on their record this season. The offence is still sputtering and if the defence and pitching hit a bump, we could be talking 2-6.

Not surprising. He was limping along the basepaths last night.

I think Gibbons needs to be strong and put him on 7-day DL, even though Martin probably wont want to

7-day DL is for concussions only, they'd have to put him on the 15-day DL.
He'll just have to play through it and hope it gets better.. you don't sit one of your star players for 2 weeks over a nagging injury during a pennant race.

Off the bandwagon already? LOL
Turned the game on late last night and Jays were already behind 3-0. Then, noticed Navarro didn't even catch Mark Buerhle! What's the hell,Gibby??!?!!
Especially when Martin plays on one leg? Gibby was a hero in the first game with all of those late changes and he became a goat the next night! LOL
Whatever you do don't forget the Orioles! They could overtake the Jays by end of the week. Talking about AA to become club's president for next year by sportsnet.ca is premature, imho. AA could join Dave Dombrowski in Boston as their new GM if Jays failed to make the playoff. Boston will then try to sign David Price in the off-season at all costs!
Have a nice day,Jays fans! LOL

Losing to a AAA hitting lineup and a rookie pitcher, like the Jays did last night, is unacceptable. Buerhle was due for a stinker I guess.
Time to regroup and focus on a tough weekend series in Anaheim. The good news I guess is that we face 2 lefties.

But what if he aggrevates his hamstring further to the point where it tears?? Then he misses the whole season and possibly WS.

And he isnt hitting much while he's injured either, I would rather have Navarro take his place next 2 weeks

I agree and Thole can catch Dickey starts. Martin has not been performing like a star. Having him catch Buerhle last night was a mistake by Gibbons..Is anyone keeping count?

facing some lefties coming up...if Pillar doesn't start hitting like a major leaguer.... he has to go to the bench. We use to have Rasmus and Arencibia to strike out and kill rallies......now we have Pillar not striking out so much, but still an automatic out at key time..and a dp candidate with men on base

something or nothing? I have noticed a few times when some one hits a homer, that there is no handshake with Gibbons. And a couple of times Gibbons has just sat on his arse. How many other managers sit most of the time during a game?

Clearly a prime indication of whether a manger is doing a good job or not.

I really get some good laughs out of some of the comments posted.

BTW, what stats do you have on standing vs. sitting time for Gibbons in a game? You do realize he may be on camera a total of 3-5 minutes during a 2.5-3 hour game.

How do you know its 3-5 minutes per game?? Do you have stats to back up this claim?? A link maybe??

I attend most of the home games. I sit on the first base side and can see the BJ dugout clearly. The manager gets up when a replay is being considered or to shake hands with a pitcher who has done a good job and is being taken out.

Dickey and Buehrle both came up with tired arms, in retrospect sending young Hutch to the minors is looking like a mistake.

And for God's sake, Martin is playing with a gimp hamstring, give him a rest break! Navarro and Thole can handle the catching duties this month. We need Martin healthy for September.
