There's an old saying in baseball, "never make the first or third out at third base."
Guess that kind of implies it's worth the risk to make the second out at third.

you do know he was 4/4 yesterday with some stolen bases and he was pretty good today, as for getting thrown out it was a close play and he has been pretty good since being moved to the 6th spot
Agreed. Rios was not to blame for the loss.

Nope, I missed that game.
But you're right, he belongs in 6th spot. Not cleanup

The Jays seem to have just 3 quality starters the way things are going lately.
Halladay, Romero, Tallet.

Richmond has an ERA of about 5.5 since May 1 and Janssen is not as good as he used to be before since he had the surgery to repair the torn labrum on his shoulder. That type of injury is extremely difficult to make a successful comeback from.
Probably most successful comeback from torn labrum is Chris Carpenter in St. Louis; but, he's spent a lot of time on the DL in last couple of years.

Maybe Jays should consider putting Janssen in long relief and bringing someone from Las Vegas in to see what they can do because Janssen has been getting hit hard since he came back.
Take out Tallet from that list.

Rubbish now. Can't hit. Can't pitch.

Wow, what happened in that 8th inning with Rios on the Scutaro line drive to LF? Was that a mistake by Rios or Leyva? Rios failed to tag up at 3rd base with less than 2 outs. Even if he thought the ball was gonna drop you tag up because your gonna score anyways. I have no clue what was going through this guys mind. Was a costly play at the time but at least it turned into a moot point. Still this is the 2nd base running mistake Rios has made in the past couple weeks. I recall a game where he tried to steal 3rd with 1 out and ran into an out. Jays left a lot of runners stranded though, good thing they got it done in extras.

He took the risk of stealing 3B when there was no need to take that risk. He was already in scoring position, especially with his speed. Does this guy have an IQ above 50? Dumb!

Yep and I"m not sure whose mistake it was today, either Rios or Leyva or both. But at least one of those two made a big mistake on that play , fortunately it did not cost the Blue Jays the game though.

Advice to Jay "hitters". When you come to bat with the bases loaded (like 5 times last night), LET THE PITCH HIT YOU DON'T LET YOU TRY TO HIT THE PITCH. My lord, Jays batters went zipo for 9 with bases loaded last night.

Alex, Alex, Alex. Do not run to second base on a fly ball out to the outfield when there is less than 2 outs. Easy double play.

OMFG it goes on and on. Halladay, Jannsen and Downs all on the 15 day dl.
Why can't RIOS and WELLS get "hurt"? Wells has 3 hits in his last 3 at bats but they are all one base "bleeders". I am shocked at his almost complete lack of power.

It is very interesting that both Wells and Rios have had a sharp decline in their power numbers since the league has started to investigate steroids. Coincidence, i think not. Just a couple of years ago Rios was in the home-run hitting contest at the all-star game. I don't think that will be happening again anytime soon. As for Wells, he sure has been injured a fair bit the last couple of years, now that they can't use roids to increase their healing time, well we see what happens. I just find it really strange that they both have had such a decline in their numbers, we may never know the truth.

Another base running gaff by Rios tonight. Damn what is up with this guy. Great performance by Richmond though , BJ Ryan looked shaky again in the 9th but League came in and got the job done and a nice deefnsive play by Scutaro to end the game. Aaron Hill has got to be in the All STar game this year the way he is playing in my opinion. By the way, who do you guys think is the best color analyst of the 3 that sportsnet has (Tabler, Mulliniks or Fletcher). I kind of like Darren Fletcher the most. Mulliniks seems too serious and never laughs at any of Jamie's jokes and Tabler is knowledgeable but I dont find him as entertaining as Fletcher is. Fletcher seems to have that layed back approach that seems to work really well in baseball.

I've always really liked Tabby. Far and away my favourite.

Tabby knows Cito and the staff and was part of the '92 Championship team. You can also tell that he is really a baseball fan. He has better rapport with Campbell. Fletcher is OK but his mind wonders sometimes. Mulliniks can't shut up when he's supposed to.

Nice win by the Jays today. Barajas and Rolen are really coming back to haunt their old team. The Jays really took advantage of the Pedro Feliz error in that 8th inning. That really should have been a double-play and had it unfolded that way maybe the outcome of the game is different. So thank god the Jays took advantage of the miscue. I still am disturbed by the fact that the Jays are leaving a few too many runners stranded on the basepaths. But I guess scoring 8 runs while failing to cash in on so many opportunities should be looked at as a positive. You gotta figure eventually the law of averages will start to come into play and the Jays will start to cash in more.

What a pathetic pitching staff. Only Washington is worse in the NL. So much for winning a pile of games at home and playing .500 on the road. Phillies have a very odd record home v. away. At 23-9 on the road, Philly could reverse the outcome when they head to Toronto next week.
