I'm glad Litsch is done. I think he sucks - no velocity, its basically curveball or bust. And he looks like he's 12 years old. I'd much rather see them bring back Cecil and have him learn the ropes up here since he'll be a big part of the future.

For those that are curious, the Jays seem to have done pretty good in the draft today. With the 20th they took a college righty that could've easily gone in the top 10. With their supplementary 1st (thanks AJ) they took a lefty that has dynamite stuff but slipped due being a Boras client.

Do you really care that Litsch looks young? When he was missing some of his velocity, he went to the minors, came back and started throwing his fastball at about 93 MPH. I don't know about you but 93 is pretty damn good. He has other pitches in his repetoire as well. He was a good pitcher and he will be missed.

I do agree with the rest of your post though. Cecil looks like he will be a good one and it looks like the Jays did a nice job in the draft.

Tommy John surgery used to be the domain of pitchers in their 30's. Jesse is still in his mid-20's. What is going on here?
I was thinking the same thing. That is such a shame.

Watching Wells so far this year, it is obvious that he has only "warning track" power. Sometimes, he gets lucky and jerks one over the wall but that is few and far between. It is awful watching a former almost Tier 1 player deteriorate in front of an audience. Very sad.
I have noted earlier that Wells' swing does not look right. He is "reaching" for bad pitches just to get his bat on the ball. Hell, he can't even get it out of the infield let alone the warning track. One nice stat is that he has 10 stolen bases already.

Also he seems to have more patience and is getting walks. With Lind behind him he needs to get on base anyway he can.

Blue Jays Agree To Sign David Dellucci

By Ben Nicholson-Smith [June 10, 2009 at 3:53pm CST]

ESPN.com's Buster Olney reports that the Blue Jays have agreed to sign David Dellucci. The Indians released Dellucci last Monday after he started the season hitting .275/.333/.350. He will report to Triple A and will likely be promoted to the majors soon. The Blue Jays, who obtain Dellucci for the major league minimum, will probably use him as a left fielder and DH against right-handed pitching.

The Rangers also offered Dellucci a minor league deal.

I saw a couple of WELLS at bats in the past week where he actually DUCK out of the way of a close pitch:( . VERNON, LET THE PITCH BALL HIT YOU! It is much easier to get on base on a hit by pitch than by hitting the pitch.

Why doesn't RIOS and WELLS simply mail in their 0 for 4 scorecards instead of wasting time showing up for games?:(

Jays were 0 for 9 with runners in scoring position Thurs night.

Kevin Millar has been really brutal and awful since May 1, an automatic out every time he steps to plate it seems. He should maybe retire after this season because looks like he's lost it.

There doesn't seem to be much hitting down in minors either.
Hopefully Snider finds his groove again. As for Arencibia he looks like he could be a .240 type hitter who hits 20HRs a season; but he won't be in Toronto till at least 2011 season because his defence is just god awful. He makes a lot of errors and runners stealing bases on him have something like a 90% success rate.
He could be converted into a 1st baseman or something if he struggles with his defence behind the plate.

Don't know why Carlson was brought on in place of Richmond? His sole contribution was a hit for no outs.

What followed was even worse as League then had a shocking performance.

Overall a win was turned into a loss by poor bullpen contributions.

I don't understand why Carlson is still in the bullpen.

The stats claim that Toronto has the best bullpen since 2007, but with pitchers like Carlson and Wolfe, I don't know how?

League is a good pitcher and is great in the set-up role. He has one of the fastest fastballs in the league, and last night was a rare bad outing for him.

Hopefully Halladay's groin gets better soon, or the Jays are fucked!

What did you guys think of Rios attempting to steal 3rd with 1 out. I guess in hindsight its easy to say it was the wrong move.

Hated it. He's already in scoring position with two chances at a base hit to bring him home to tie. However, Rios has been very aggressive on the basepaths this year and is usually successful at stealing third.

The Jays seem to have just 3 quality starters the way things are going lately.
Halladay, Romero, Tallet.

Richmond has an ERA of about 5.5 since May 1 and Janssen is not as good as he used to be before since he had the surgery to repair the torn labrum on his shoulder. That type of injury is extremely difficult to make a successful comeback from.
Probably most successful comeback from torn labrum is Chris Carpenter in St. Louis; but, he's spent a lot of time on the DL in last couple of years.

Maybe Jays should consider putting Janssen in long relief and bringing someone from Las Vegas in to see what they can do because Janssen has been getting hit hard since he came back.

Idiot move!!

There is one out.......he already had stole second and put himself in scoring position......so a single scores him from second........no need to go to third.......but the selfish bastard goes for third and blows any chance they had!!
