The whole team now seems to have gone cold, at least when there are runners in scoring positions. They can't score runs. That includes Lind and Hill.
Jays rooky pitchers don't match up well with the better teams. Time to send Ray and Cecil down and bring Janssen and Romero back up (as was originally supposed to happen).
Yes their bats cooled off in Fenway, but as salsa said earlier, good pitching can stop good hitting. Not that the Sox had
outstanding pitching but they took care of business. Wake had one of his best outings of the year (his near no-no was his best). Penny was nothing spectacular and as I predicted, Jays did hit him. He basically got by with one pitch - his fastball and Jays being a fastball hitting team shoud have been able to score more. Then Lester was much better than he has been all season, not near his best but he left runners on base, got a nice double play in one inning. As for the bullpen, Sox relievers have been near lights out all season long. Their starting pitching of late has been much better, so that may be a sign that things are improving.
One series against Boston isn't going to make or break the Jays season. However, you can't deny they have had a very easy schedule to this point. Only 6 games v. Boston and NY and are 1-5. 24 games against the AL Central while Boston has played 7. Boston is 4-8 on the west coast and 21-8 in the rest of their games. They have had their last west coast trip. All due respect to the Jays, they have put up some nice numbers, beaten the teams they are supposed to beat (AL Central) but check their schedule the next few months. I see a lot of Boston, NY Yankees, TBay, LA Angels, who are getting better of late, inter league play coming up and they play some good teams from the NL East. Their road gets much tougher and it will be interesting to see how it plays out. That young pitching staff won't hold up all season long. Once some of their pitchers start making their way back to the lineup, that shoud help.
It is only one series v. Boston, I know I am not looking too far ahead because the Jays can play well against the Sox. However, I like the road ahead for the Sox better than the one Toronto has to head down.
