Is it time to drop Alex Rios down in the batting order???
If he bats 6-7-8, it will take the pressure off him as well. Also, the Jays should probably have a left handed bat in the 3 spot (maybe Overbay?).

5 double plays in 7 innings.

Anyone know the all-time record for the worst performance?
Make that six in eight innings. The record for a nine inning game is 7. One more inning left to tie the record.

On the bright side, Redsox are losing big-time to t-Bay and Burnett is medicocre against LAA as we speak.

Jays have gone a month with the best, or close to, record in the AL. That's more than just a little streak and suggests the team can genuinely contend with some of their pitchers back.

Thank god they ditched Burres back to AAA!

How come the only people that thought using Brian Burres as a starter was a good idea worked for the Jays.

David Purcey,Brian Tallet,Brian Burres,B.J.Ryan.were all lefty loser .
They pitched a baseball like the grumpy old men !

I'm sorry, I know Cito is like everyone's favorite manager, and I'll admit he is growing on me, but his idea that we can't pinch hit is an idiot idea. Think about this, 8th inning, the team has worked their way back from down by 6 to where they have a runner on and the tying run at the plate. Bautista up, ok, you want to give Rolen the whole day off, because Rolen's defensive was horrible @ last night game, let Bautista bat against the righty. I don't like it but ok. But after he strikes out, Raul Chavez is up.

Chavez is a good defensive catcher, but he hits, well he hits like Johnny Mac. On our bench is Lyle Overbay, and he is swinging the bat so well of late. 99 managers out of 100 would pinch hit there. In fact likely 100 out of 100, unless the 100th is our Cito. But Cito is still posing for that statue that they are going to put outside of Skydome. I really really don't understand how you can be philosophically opposed to pinch hitting and be a manager in the majors. It doesn't make sense to me. You won't do it because it might hurt Raul Chavez's feelings? Chavez knows he isn't here because of his bat.

Latest news from Yahoo Sports is that Romero and Janssen, and maybe Litsch are due back this month in that order.

Marcum and McGowan out for a while yet. August earliest it seems.

When there are only two catchers on a roster many managers have an attitude that you can't pinch hit for them, becuase what if the new guy comes in an gets injured.

I don't agree with it, but I say the majority of managers that only carry two catchers are hesitant to pinch hit for them.

The team has been hitting so well, it sort of negates the use of smaller ball strategy in close ames... but Cito is going to have use the hit and run a bit more.

are you guys fucking kidding me ????

you are complaining after the Jays lose 1 series???? are you aware that this is the team with the most hits in the majors? among the top 5 in runs scored, runs batted in with 2 outs and the best fielding % ?????
Hey, Salsamarc is this your way of admitting you love the job J.P. is doing. :)

Biggest challenge right now is their #2, #3, #4, and #5 pitchers in the rotation are all injured so they have to go all the way down to the #6,7,8,9 guys in depth chart to fill in. That would do a lot of harm to any team.

Burres is an automatic loss; so, can't wait for Romero or Litsch to come back.
It'll be interesting to see if Janssen can crack the rotation too because he is due back sometime this month.

If they are competitive late in the season they say Marcum is healing freakishly fast from his Tommy John surgery and may be back in late August.

Unfortunately, Phil Hughes and Joba Chamberlain are starting to pitch well for the Yankees; so, they are in a tough spot.

riiiiiiiiight that's it ................this is my way of saying what a difference having a real manager as a coach makes (you don't go and put your old buddy and roomate as a big league coach because chances are he is going to make you look even MORE stupid

btw Scuttaro, Lind and Hill are the 3 hitters that have been carrying this team so far..... can't ask for more of the Jays 1 & 2 hitters

Agreed. Barajas is also doing well, as are Bautista and Millar in support. Can't believe they hit into 6 double plays though against Kansas.

Pitching is more of a worry over the next few days. According to Yahoo Sports they are just trying to stay ahead as best they can until after the May 11th off day by which time they might have Romero and Janssen back.

Disappointing to see the Yankees win last night. I really thought they were down and out but just goes to show anything is possible in those late innings. Looks like the Angels desperately need to strenghthen their bullpen.

Great to see the guys give Halladay 8 run support last night. It wasn't one of his better outings, but he has carried the team for so long that he deserves some support as well.

you are right, looks like Kevin Millar is having a great season so far
Too bad he flew out with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 8th.

Jays are now down 1 going into the bottom of the 10th.
