They really needed a CG performance out of Halladay. The bullpen was worked really hard over the last four games, and Accardo needs some time to get his head in order.
I know why they did it but I am still some what surprised since Halladay is the most valuable guys on the teams.

Why are you so surprised and making such an issue out of this?

Doc was pitching on 5 days rest; he likes to go the distance and is a horse who has an easy delivery; 110 pitches is not a high pitch count and he hasn't thrown that many pitches this year; it was a close game and was relatively quick; Halladay was never in trouble and he knows his body and limits better than anyone.

I'm glad he stays out there and gives innings - that's what an ace is supposed to do. I hate the way too many teams coddle pitchers unnecessarily, especially veterans who know what they're doing.

Plus, who's going to tell him to come out of the game - Gibby? LOL!

I'm headed down to Phoenix to kickstart the golf season and decided to score some tickets for the D'Backs. I've never seen a game there and they're off to a great start.

Your are a f****** r***** if you think I am making it an issue...

I just said I was surprised (not a issue). Most clubs protect their pitchers early in the season by limiting their innings.

Are you drunk? Seriously, why the belligerence? You made three consecutive posts questioning the same thing. That sounded like an issue...

It's not about innings - it's about pitch counts and the difficulty of the innings pitched... plus all the other factors that have been listed.

Take a deep breath man. Doc's only 30 - his arm is not going to fall off. :)

Doc was just awesome tonight....Halladay allowed only one Texas baserunner to reach third and retired 15of 16 hitters in one stretch. The only exception in that span came when Halladay hit Rangers second baseman Ian Kinsler with what appeared to be a purpose pitch in the bottom of the third, in retaliation for Texas starter Luis Mendoza (0-1) hitting Hill in the top of the inning.
Must be freaking nice to have a pitcher like Doc that you just throw out there every 5th day and know more times than not, he is going to win and give you close to 9 innings. Our pitchers in Boston have much lower standards. Anything over 5 innings is gravy. Buchholz the other night pitched well but he was near 100 after 5 innings. Wang was a little over 50.

I'd take Doc on my team any freaking time.

GTA
Alan Ashby on Jays broadcasts keeps talking about how Jeremy Accardo has totally lost the split fingered fastball pitch that he used to have last year and complained that every pitch Accardo seems to throw this year is a 93, 94, or 95 mph fastball.
Could be tough year in Blue Jay bullpen this year with Janssen out for season and Accardo with his magic touch gone awol.

Hopefully Ryan gets back up to speed quickly. Seems like team is really going to need him to be like he was in 2006.

You must lead a pretty f****** sheltered life if you think a comment on something, and follow up comments, on why said something is an issue. It is called a DISCUSSION... S***** f***.
A
dis·cus·sion
an act or instance of discussing; consideration or examination by argument, comment, etc., esp. to explore solutions; informal debate.
and again f*** n***

How can I have a f****** issue when I say the baseball guys know best? S****** f***

de·fer
1. to yield respectfully in judgment or opinion (usually fol. by to): We all defer to him in these matters.

Apparently the same as a Hunter 3PM post.

hunter001, you speak of discussion - well, that's exactly what I was doing. I didn't "bust your chops" at all, you big baby - I (and others) gave a list of reasons why the Jays would let Halladay stay in the game, and every time, you said (paraphrased), "Yeah, but..."

That's not deferring to baseball guys (after saying that Doc is old and should be protected, I might add - please quote yourself fully for context) - that is having a point that you want to make - over and over again - and not accepting another POV. Hardly the stuff of discussion.

And that's fine too, but if someone asks you why you're so surprised and taking issue with the topic, why do you feel that it's a personal attack and then go on a profanity-laced tirade that was far more aggressive and belligerent than anything posted towards you?

You really should go back on the meds. And get your keyboard / computer fixed, it keeps putting "*" in place of letters... ;)

Seriously, since I suspect this is something more personal on your part than a simple misunderstanding, my advice would if you don't like what I post, put me on ignore. Just don't hijack threads and turn them into one of your selectively-quoted, faux-profanity-filled, dictionary-referenced tantrums.

BJ's back for the BJays!

And records a never-in-doubt save in his first appearance of the Jays' 5-4, 10th inning win to sweep Texas. (For the first time in 23 years!) :)

To-day's game is a prime example of what the Jays need to do to win. Get productive outs. Sacrifice bunt to move the runners over and a sacrifice fly to bring home the winning run. Oh, a stolen base here and there also helps. Welcome back, BJ!
