I think we've assigned value to pussy. Buyer's market.
Anthony Bourdain's problems went beyond the scrofa. His last Parts Unknown episode was to Bhutan, it was unlike anything he'd ever endured before. He got violently ill while attempting to travel there and so did the rest of his entourage. Terrible food with lethal derelict roads on sheer mountain cliffs, that was the entire journey. He used to call Kashmir "voyage to the thunder bucket", this was much worse. He managed to survive it and went to a Spa in Alsace to recover.

Darren Aronovsky who joined him in Bhutan got violently ill as well.

What could drive a guy who almost had everything...almost....to kill himself...scary thought, but what do I know....half my life is hustle and bustle and try to enjoy what's left...the guy had my dream job and i'm still here and he's gone...

Well, at some point he was talking about how it all became a bit much. Constantly on the road. Never a home life to speak of. Wore him down. Maybe when you're young. At this point in my life it would be hellish.
Like Pink Floyd said. Nice to be home. Nice to warm your bones beside the fire.

Totally agree but he could've walked away when he no longer can stand the heat....he chose to stay in the kitchen...

Sorry, not much sympathy for these people when others say fame and money drove to suicide. A waitress trying to raise a kid on her own because the Father took off has my sympathies.
I have sympathy for people who suffer from mental heath issues. Many people have thoughts of suicide, many of those seemingly have it all. It's very hard to understand how someone like Bourdain, who's rich and famous could take his own life. People say, if I had his lifestyle, his money, I'd de so happy and would never off myself. Well, it's not that simple. It's very sad when someone, who touched so many and who by all accounts, had so much more to give, ends their own life. I have sympathy for his friends and family, especially his daughter. You just never know what's going on in someone's head.

Reading some of the comments here, it's clear that many don't understand mental illness. It's not something you can snap out of.

Didn't he die doing that "jerk-off while choking yourself with a noose" thing all the celebs were doing?

From the mid 00's onward Anthony Bourdain and Tom Colicchio ruled NYC's culinary scene. Bourdain at Les Halles and Colicchio at Gramercy Tavern. They would get together at a post closing time speakeasy and get shitfaced. They both built culinary empires but that's where the similarity ended. Bourdain became smitten with Rome, wanting to be part of it's culture. Colicchio left NYC and moved his family to Mattituck a hamlet on the north fork of Long Island. There he helped develop the region's wine industry. Bourdain abandoned his home life, Colicchio reinforced his.

Now Bobby Flay is attempting to follow Colicchio's example, although his married life hasn't been the best either.

He was just trying to get a nut like the rest of us. I think that's why it's so tragic.
Not sure if it was ever confirmed that was the actual way he died. Some things are never reported to the public. Must've been pretty traumatic for his buddy, Eric (can't remember the last name) who was on his show a bunch and found his body that morning.

Other celebs rumoured to have died during "auto-erotic asphyxiation"; Robin Williams, David Carradine, Chester Bennington (Linkin Park lead singer), Chris Cornell (lead singer Soundgarden, Audioslave).

Didn't know that Eric Ripert was in Alsace with Bourdain. That's a very expensive croque monsieur!

And that's all they are, rumours. None of them with the exception of Carradine died from auto-erotic asphyxiation.

If Anthony Bourdain wanted a sweet Roman girl why didn't he ask Bonci to hook him up with one. If he had hooked up with Silvia Slap (Sbaffi) he'd be sitting in the Piazza Navona snacking on supplis and sipping a Negroni today.

Certainly better for him than the scroffa.
