Never mind the Americans....

How many Chinese nationals were on the flight? On the heels of this last disaster you have to expect that they are going to feel the need to blame someone.

And in this case they have someone........possibly. With a shared border.......

Interesting detail, Ukraine ATC had closed airspace up to FL 320, and MH decided to fly over at FL330. This was pretty stupid of the Malaysians, but also why would they close airspace to 32K feet when they know Buk missiles are effective to FL750? I also am curious how many other planes flew that route today.

Watched a bit of CNN and they said 3 other commercial aircraft were in the area at the time. They also said Lufthansa, KLM and others were regularly flying that corridor. The Malaysian flew about 200 miles further north to avoid a strong thunderstorm to the south but that it was still in regular airspace approved by the European air space control.

The U.S. FAA has already banned U.S. flag airlines from overflying the area (not that there are many, if any flights by US airlines which normally do).
My understanding is the FAA directive only applied to Crimea, there was no directive to avoid the area this plane was flying over, though airlines may have chosen to avoid it anyway.

Soviet instructor: Rebels, we gift you with new weapon. To test we track airplane. Igor do not touch that button.

Igor: what comrade, this button. Hey, what's that whoosh noise?

There is really no doubt what happened. Either rebels with this system, or Russian special advisors operating it on behalf of the rebels, pulled the trigger without a positive ID.

Now they are busy lying.

There are 47 passengers whose nationality has not yet been announced, of the others 154 were Dutch, 28 Malaysian, 27 Australian, 11 Indonesian, six British, four German, four Belgian, three Filipino and one Canadian. The 15 crew members were all Malaysian.

Sara Firth isn't one of the true crazies of RT.
I was interested in the comments about job security and a good salary. It's a difficult gig being a young journalist. Any break must seem like a godsend. It's impressive how some of them have the integrity to walk away from the material benefits of working for RT.

The Russians are going to try to cover this up just like the last time they shot down the Korean plane.

Well, I doubt the plane was shot down by the Russians, by the rebels, maybe. And even at that it was a horrible mistake. But I also feel that if Ukraine new that irregulars had a operating SA-11 system, they should have CLOSED THEIR FUCKING AIRSPACE. It is not really a Malaysian Airlines issue as I first thought. Apparently 300 planes flew though that route and MAS had the misfortune of having to divert north due to storms. Fuck I hope those poor bastards died quickly. I cannot imagine what the fuck that must be like. One second you are sipping on your lousy wine, then everything around you explodes into fire and chaos. Hope they were knocked out cold buy the shockwave. A terrible tragedy. War is criminal, and this is just a crime withing a massive crime. All about money in the end. I think this serves as an example of what happens when democracy fails.

Boycott everything Russian. Just be sure to exempt oil,
palladium and potash from the sanction. Supply of these
things at affordable prices is absolutely essential to global
economy.
