To be honest I don't understand what is the Maple Leaf M.O. They are neither very physical nor very fast as a team. The departure of Hyman means even less physical. Plus, the current team is built bass ackwards.
The Leafs problem is they can't draft outside of the top 10. They've made some real head scratching decision outside of the first round. The Bruins all be it one bad draft in 2015 where they whiffed on 3 straight first rounders have drafted well outside the first. They don't rely on signing nearing retirement to fill out their bottom 6. They also do a great job of developing talent too. So although they are physical they do have actual skilled players too.
He didn't want to be traded just like John Tavares and as soon as Tavares was a free agent he signed elsewhere.
I think he's hanging on a little too long now. I know he wants a cup, but if he's not careful it will be completely meaningless if FLA wins one while he plays 5mins a game and then he's a healthy scratch throughout the playoffs.
He should've retired 4 years ago. I never understood the Maple Leafs signing of him to begin with.
