Wayne Simmonds on his reaction to nine more games between Maple Leafs and Canadiens to come:

"Can't wait."

Rielly 28:35 in ice time and the game winner.
Last year was an off year for him. I suspect he was dealing with injuries for a good chunk of the year but did not use them as a crutch. For the Leafs to have a successful year they definitely need him to return to form. He is probably their best defenceman at getting the puck out of the zone on a consistent basis. So far so good.

Entertaining game. Leafs didn't look good. Anderson let in a soft goal.
Marner didn't take his guy in dzone for another goal. Looked like the same leaf team we have been watching for a few years now. Canadiens looked good. Their D looked good.
Not much time to prep so i hope Leafs forwards can improve their defensive game. We will see.

If you're referring to Anderson's goal in the slot that was Matthew's man. Matthew's was in too deep next to his goalie. The wingers mark the defensemen and Marner is a winger. Plus Anderson was shooting more from the left winger side and Marner is a right winger.
I'm not sure which game you were watching but here you go.
You can watch it again from the 1:55 mark.
Marner in fact read the play correctly and left his mark and skated towards Andersen but that was not Marner's man. Are you saying Matthews should have marked the defenseman up top? Matthew's stood next to his defensman marking the same player.
Do you come from the Dart's school of trashing Marner?

Punch Imlach everybody! Take a bow, Punch!

Wrong again. A true Montrealer doesn't care who plays in the finals, they are forever the best team because they won 24 cups
regardless how long ago and regardless of how shit they've been in recent history.
Now that^^^is what a Montreal Canadiens fan says...

Although he didn’t score, I thought Matthews played with a lot of enthusiasm and took some punishment going in front of the net. There was one play where he took two cross checks, one from Weber and one from Charot. He looked hurt after the second one and that should have been a penalty. Another good sign was the Tavares/Nylander line played really well. That and a couple of big saves by Andersen in ot gave them the chance to win it. Andersen wasn‘t very good in regulation though.

If anything you should be picking on the other Anderson goal where Tavares lost him.

Ever wonder why everyone abandoned wicki's weak attempt at a Leafs thread. Welcome to this one wicki.
That thread has 280 posts, roughly 25% more posts than this thread, and 1000 more views. Sure sounds like a weak attempt at a thread and abandonment to me.

Hockey is a fluid game. If a guy is beside you in the d zone, you should cover him. Thats the leafs biggest problem by far is that the forwards are often floating around the blue line. Just watch Mathews. Guy is a plus 10 over the last 2 seasons. Thats ridiculous with his offensive skills. Rarely do you see a leaf hounding an opponents forward in the dzone. You have to make life hard for opponents in your zone. You have to take away the ice. Leafs dont do that. Cant expect to achieve that just with your 2 d and Anderson. They do try in playoffs but they fail cause they haven't done it all season. Just my opinion.

I don't think that is an accurate or fair analysis...

Tim Stutzle makes his NHL debut vs the Leafs, is he going to score 4 goals like Matthews?

More intense rivalries is good for the game and good for the games. There should be a lot of hate-ons. It's like when teams wouldn't even travel on the same trains. I wonder if there will be more fighting?
