France/Switzerland was a snooze fest, very few chances.

Henry stinks with France compared with Arsenal, I think maybe Arsene Wenger needs to be the national team coach!

Switzerland's performance proves that their tie with Italy wasn't a fluke.

A gutsy effort on the part of Croatia, they could have used a Suker to finish, they will still qualify for the knockout rounds. Mr Perreira shouldn't have said that Brazil's backups are better than most team starters, now all their opponents will be gunning for them.

Forza Croatia.

The Americans will be up against it this video may help them:

he certainly didnt stink in France 98 if you go back and watch those games. As a young winger he netted 3 goals. He was THEN converted to a striker by Wenger and the rest is history.

France 98 was a long time ago. I wasn't impressed with France or Brazil.

But it looks like this World Cup is wide open and any one of the top teams can win.
I completely agree. making a big deal about France is like picking the New York Islanders to win the Stanley Cup. Based on WC'02 & Euro'04, they're ancient history until proven otherwise.

Re: Brazil-Croatia - I too feel like I watched a different game than the TSN & play-by-play staff. I don't think either team came even close to living up to their billing.

As Forest said, I'm assuming this wasn't Brazil's real A-game.

I thought the Croats looked way too content to lose 1-0 in the last 15 minutes of the game instead of going for a point. There was no support on the attack whatsoever - always just 2 or 3 guys alone with only one hopeful play to make.

I frankly found the Brazilian team disappointing. Ronando stood and watched the game as if he was in the audience. The craotian team not surprisingly played german style soccer, not so pretty, but quite effective.
The goal by Kaka was pretty though.

Here is a tip: watch the games on OMNI ch 47, then you avoid the annoying commentators.

You mean british commentators :D Seriously though I thought Croatians played well but didn't capitalize on their chances.

Do you guys agree this WC has been very exciting so far????
Almost no boring games except for one or two.
with the exception of that France/Switzerland game so far I have been very impressed with this WC, Australia scoring 3 goals in 9 minutes, T&T scaring the crap out of Sweden with 10 men, games I thought would be a dud, Mexico/Iran actually turned out to be great, lets hope another potential snoozer tomorrow Saudi Arabia/Tunisia overcomes that also.

I was also disappointed with the Brazilian team today. I thought they were very suspect defensively. Though this has always been a criticism of their game, they were quite lucky not to have ended with a draw...

Ronaldo look old, fat and slow out there. They probably could have notched another goal or two, but I found that they seemed to lack chemistry and cohesion as a unit.

Credit to the Croats though... they certainly held their own... and would have deserved it if they were able to notch the equalizer.

Angola was Portugal's colony until 1975, so emotion will be very very high on both sides. Added to that, the last time Portugal met Angola in 2001 there were 4 red cards against the Angolans and the game had to be stopped with 20 minutes left and Portugal leading 5-1. It was only a friendly, but very controversial, especially on the Angolan side. This is their most important game, no doubt. If Angola could manage a tie, or a win against us, they'd call this W.C. a runaway success.
Angola is happy just to make it in W.C. For a month forget about the landmines & past wars. CNN did a short feature on Angola.

Although Spain deserves the win, I feel that was a sketchy red card. I mean David Villa still got the shot off afterall. Maybe it's the heat, but Ukraine have shown nothing, Shevchenko hasn't gotten nothing.
