England's performance...

...they finally got some momentum going at the end there. I think this game worked out in their favour. They finally got a few quality goals on the board. Though they came late in the game, I would say that it bodes well for them. Add the fact that Rooney was able to get some real game action, and I think they have an opportunity to get a head of steam going. If they can put together a more sustained offensive effort in the next game, I think they might actually EARN some of the hype they have been getting.

Say what you will about Gerrard... and I am not a fan of his (or England for that matter), but the goal was real gem.

Beckham's cross to Crouch... and the goal by Gerrard. They really needed that to boost their confidence and get some momentum after the dreadful first game... and not-so-convincing first 80 minutes against T & T....

Those grapes still sour I see!!!
sour? Listen dude. You are all are so lucky Pele got mauled and violently fouled in 1966 or else Brasilia would have won that cup as well. Pele was in his prime and so too the other Brazilians. They came back in 1970 with something to prove and that they did. Pele in particular put on some weight and started tackle rough as well. In other words, he gave as good as he got in the past.

It also doesnt hurt that you were playing on home soil with the refs turning a blind eye to many an English indiscretion.

TOo bad the Limeys won't win another cup in your lifetime no matter how many immigrant's children they put on the side:D

Serbia & Montenegro have no heart, no chances, no anything. They've been one of the worst teams here. Yes Holland and Argentina are superior, but they've shown nothing, especially in the attack. Injuries haven't helped, but thats no excuse. Time to look forward to Euro 2008 qualifying...

did Argentina show enough attack for you today:D
I am not a huge soccer fan, but after watching Argentina play today, well, let's just say I will watch a little more.

What an awesome display of ball handling and passing...the Serbian team looked like a bunch of guys like me on the field.

According to the so called "experts" the Serbs have one of the stronger defensive teams in the tournament...

That was because they only conceded 1 goal in 10 qualifying games.

But Spain was the only real threat in the qualifying games...and it does not help when their best defender was not playing and another one gets injured right before kick off, and it doesnt help when they're playing with 10 men either.

Despite that, Argentina would still beat them...

Still, a win is a win.
I'm pulling for Germany, but also like England.
Kathleen Darling:

So Germany is your sentimental favorite eh? ;) Although Germany and England are good teams, the good doc likes to go with the formidable power house Brazil to win the World Cup. I always like Brazil since the days of Pele.

Well USA still has a shot...Italy looked very good vs Ghana and yet they couldn't break down 9 guys of USA. This group is going down the wire!

anyone know what the deal was with the Ghanian player waving around the Israeli flag, did he have a momentary lapse and forget what country he was playing for.
