Go check out Piccadilly Circus. Lots to do there. The first time I was there, I was picked up by a "tour guide" who showed me all the "good spots". Take the underground train as it will be much cheaper than a taxi - depending on where you're staying.

U of T has tried very hard over the past 3 years to attract some new talent (prof's) with not much luck. Western, Queen's, & McGill are top in my opinion with international recognition. If you had to choose, go with one of these.
