Do you believe that discrimination in the past has contributed to the unequal status that we see right now.
The concept of EDI is that when you have two people of equal qualifications, some preference is given to the minority so that the group, as a whole, may achieve the same status as the non-minority group over the long run.

Are you opposed to the minority community reaching the same status as the white community without choosing people of inferior quality? Their qualifications are at least as good.
If as you say "Their qualifications are
at least as good" then there is no need for help, unless there is a barrier to the opportunity
Like I said advocate for equality of opportunity.
in the end the hiring manager has the obligation to hire the best person
That obligation is to the clients / customers, fellow employees and shareholders/ institution
