Some random thoughts

Trump claims Gov Newsom is to blame for lack of fire hydrant water but the fact is no hydrant system is designed for such a fire. They were designed 100 years ago with not enough water pressue to meet demand and the pipes are not big enough, nothing to do with Newsom as such a fire in any city would exhaust fire hydrant water supply. Trump is a goof

Ocean water cannot be used as fire is in the hills so too difficult to truck water esp with abandoned cars now blocking streets. If fire comes out of the hills the water could be trucked from ocean, I suspect

With insurance claims being fought over and future insurance being denied, shortage of labour as Trump deports migrants and material shortage as Trump raises imports tax recovery will take decades

Is this a bad idea?

The hydrant system is inadequate so ....

Create a fire break by water bombing evacuated neighbourhoods ahead of the fire? Homes are going to burn down anyways

No, sounds like you are displaying superiority over someone who simply prefers to live in a warm climate.

Even if he chooses to live in California, there are 39 million in California. A slim fraction are directly impacted. Some are inconvenienced.

How can it possibly be false that fires are easier to stop than hurricanes as it is impossible to stop a hurricane. BTW, scientists have put deep thought into stopping hurricanes .

Trump said he thought of a way - nuke them. Even if that did work, we now got radiation in the atmosphere.

Fires are much easier to prevent than hurricanes...
Rather than an impulsive contradictory response to your post, I agree fire prevention methods exist. Much is done in fire prevention. The ongoing debate is whether enough is being done.

Can large fires be eliminated entirely? Of course not.

As a sidebar, I don't think other state's histories with fires make for good comparisons. California's combination of climate, population density and geography make it very unique.

California has a long history of fires, we can keep going back and forth on the cause and failures of stopping the fires but there are too many factors to consider...everything points out to who's running California.
Crime and overpopulation cost the state a lot of money. a lot of money that they have to reduce funding on other departments. Resources need to be channeled...fire prevention is one of them. Clearing the forests of dead trees will be under natural resources and might need to be looked at if funding was cut there too. Why were the funding cut? For what purposes? how much $$$ will be aided to the victims of this tragedy? California is on it's way to lose billions...

that's what i'm trying to say, there are methods prevent or minimize fire, hurricane, either you get the fuck out of dodge or clench your buttcheeks and hope it's a minor one. One question that needs to look at...Why was there a cut in the funding? Bad timing. I can see the repugs salivating about this... how much funding did the state give to house "undocumented immigrants" how much funding was reduced for the fire department...

Some thoughts more random than others.

The U.S. currently builds over 1.5 million homes per year. A 1,000 homes, 5,000 homes.......not even 10,000 homes is going to materially impact the housing construction market. Incidentally, we have an incredible mobile construction workforce that essentially moves into hurricane and fire devastated areas after a disaster.

I see your point, but tell that to Florida. Rebuild all along the coast will take many years and insurance refuses to insure the rebuilds. Now include reduced labor force and import tax because of Duck Donald

You're changing the subject from fires to hurricanes.

Let's play along anyway. When you live here, you have first hand insight into matters. The Latino guys who show up to work on houses have been here a long time. They have developed skills. They don't just get thrown into construction. Perhaps they get on a crew as an assistant moving and disposing things.

Sounds like you support large immigration numbers or worse you just feel like you have to contradict Trump on any policy. I guess we should just open the Southern border again. It makes certain services cheap.
