Trump campaigned on putting tariffs in place. When he first said that, he was criticized. When Biden actually did, no one blinked.

I showed what his net worth was based on another comment about him being broke.
What you are saying is based on speculation. Doesn't change the fact that he's not broke which was my point.
Ummm....because it wasn't remotely close to the same thing. Trump is saying he'll put tariffs on all imported goods, across the board. Not targeted. It will raise prices for virtually everything people buy, and likely lead to retaliatory tariffs from other countries. This is what the US did at the start of the Great Depression....and it made it significantly worse! Trump is being criticized because he is constantly telling people the other countries will be the ones paying for tariffs, like the additional costs wouldn't be passed down to consumers...

Biden's tariffs on Chinese EVs is happening because China is trying to flood the market and destroy domestic demand. Is it protectionist? Yes. But, will it hurt the overall economy? Marginally if at all.

But how will it affect climate change? Marginal?

It was the same thing. Tariffs in the spirit of protectionism.
You can wallow in the semantics all you want and spin things to make yourself feel better but at the core, it was for the same purpose.

Why is it that when Trump suggests something he's attacked, but when Biden actually does it, he gets a pass?

The hypocrisy is astounding.

Couple of things: Considering the right points out that China is a massive polluter, getting EV vehicles over there is important and will help with climate change. Now, if only they could get rid of the coal power plants....But, every little bit helps.

And, considering Ontario is helping build EV batteries, I think it could be important to protect a fledgling new industry/product from being overwhelmed by overseas competitors. And, the fact is that virtually all auto makers are going toward the EV (or at the bare minimum, hybrid) now, that will continue to have an impact on climate change...

The inability to see the difference here is what is astounding. There is a MASSIVE difference to having tariffs on one class of goods compared to applying tariffs to ALLL classes of goods. I wonder if you can understand why that isn't registering with you? I mean, find an economist who thinks Trump's plan is a good strategy that will help the US economy. You won't be able to find it, because they don't exist. All it will do is raise prices, because importers (like Walmart or the GAP) will pass on the higher prices to the consumer.

And, it might shock you to know that the US has tariffs on many products that are imported (as does Canada). Off the top of my head, I cannot tell you what they are, but in the past they have included Canadian softwood lumber, Chinese steel, etc.

Now, if you really want to dig deep into hypocrisy, how come when Trump says horrible things about Democrats, he gets a pass, and if Biden stumbles on a word/phrase, the right-wing media falls all over itself to say he called all Trump supporters garbage and it is outrageous. And it goes the same for Harris. She needs to be flawless on everything, while Trump can air jerk off invisible men or blow a mic stand with impunity. He constantly says deranged things in his incoherent rants that are stupid, dangerous or inaccurate. So, please, spare me your indignation. Trump says so much that should be attacked and isn't.

So would Trump have been right if he had said TARGETED tariffs? I ask this because Biden hit China with additional 25% tariff on imported steel. And Canada just followed suit. We are importers of steel and these tariffs have destroyed our business in both US and Canada. I hate Trump, by the way.

Not true according to science. Global carbon emission has to be halved
by 2030 from the level somewhere in the 2010s or the point of no return
in climate change will be breached (if it has not been already). Beyond that
point of no return no emission reduction could avert impending climate
catastrophe. Every little bit won't make any difference.

I know what I said above about science is BS. But that is what science or what
science according to the adult advocates of Greta Thunberg told us. I assume
most leaders of our time other than Trump have brought into the BS and I have
to go along with them and their supporters to avoid being called climate denier.

Trump is threatening tariffs as leverage for other things like curbing the illegal import of drugs into the US.
A comedian says something and everyone immediately associates it to Trump and the media loses their shit.
Biden says it directly and crickets.

The leftwing nuts at SNL even made fun of him when he tried to open the door of the truck because he attempted to grab the handle a couple of times...nothing really funny about that...happens to everyone. That's how biased and desperate they are.

btw where is "stepped aside" Biden these days?

FoxNews skews Left??
You sure about that?
Thats news to me
Their polling skews to the left for sure. Perhaps due to their senior pollsters being anti Trumpers.

We were informed by the MAGA fanatic that Republicans outstripped Democrats in early voting in PA and that Democrats had basically thrown in the towel.

The facts show otherwise. Democrats are outpacing Republicans in early voting in PA by a whopping 56% to 33%. So we shall see.

Miami-Dade county which is heavily populated with latino immigrants and African Americans is about to be flipped.
It went 63-33 for Democrats in 2016 and 53-46 in 2020
