I've never heard of No.85 before, his name is William Lagesson. If he can protect his goalie which the Loafs are pathetic at, then he's definitely a keeper.I love how the other William #85 rubs out Kadri in front of Woll after the whistle. If that kid keeps playing like that, he's likely to stay up in the big leagues.
How true. What if he goes pointless for 2 games in a row?Waiting for when his point streak ends so they can pounce.
Put him on waivers. How true. What if he goes pointless for 2 games in a row?
I didn't think either goal was his fault.Time to send Reaves to the AHL, minus 2 in about 4.5 minutes played, I can do that in my beer league, the Reaves experiment is over.
I don't think it's about intimidation anymore, but rather it's about protection. You need someone on your team tough enough to stand up for your skilled/ smaller players. The other team has to know they can't get away with certain shit against your better players. I liked the Reaves signing.-11 in 100 minutes of ice time (with 0 goals while your on the ice) is special stuff.
But I'm sure all there opponents have been intimidated by his presence. Certain media and certain fans stuck in the prior century making a big deal of how this "intimidating" signing would significantly improve things had their collective heads up their asses. The Leafs won't be able to afford to waste a lineup spot on him during a playoff game.
And this isn't fully a Leafs fan bash - I spent a weekend about a month ago with my cousin (a Habs fan) and all he wanted the Habs to do was go out an get another fighter or two thinking it would solve everything.

Reaves hasn’t made much impact since the first couple of games. He hasn’t been hitting as much but a big reason is he’s been playing less minutes. He’s been on the ice when a lot of goals were scored against but my eye test tells me that the vast majority of those goals were due to poor goaltending and team defence.I didn't think either goal was his fault.
I know that he wasn't on the ice at the time that Liljegren got hurt, but he definitely didn't stand up for Liljegren afterwards either and if not Marchand nobody else paid.I don't think it's about intimidation anymore, but rather it's about protection. Your first sentence is hyperbole but the second makes good sense. Domi should have been the designated avenger because he can play higher in the lineup and about the same size as Marchand. The non response was disappointing but Bertuzz’s laughing it off with Marchand was plain stupid.Putting Reaves on the ice with Marchand is a guaranteed goal against. But he should have mixed it up with someone to send a message that the Leafs aren't soft (even though they are).
I agree with you. I just hope they give Reaves another chance, and hope he uses it wisely if he gets it.Reaves hasn’t made much impact since the first couple of games. He should get his share of blame but he’s the least of Leafs’ problems right now. I don’t even think he’s been used properly by Keefe. Right after Marchand took out Liljegren, why didn’t he send out the Reaves the next shift just to get in on his face ? 0ne shift is not gonna hurt the team but that would send out a clear message that they’re not going to put up with Marchand’s nonsense.
Players go through bad and good stretches just like all of us do in real life. When players are on a good roll every time they touch the puck it’d end up going in for them, when they’ve on a bad roll, like what Reaves is going through now, every break would just go against them.
The same people who are dumping on Reaves so hard now don’t seem have any bad things to say about Klingberg, Bertuzzi, and Samsonov who are contributing to the Leafs’ woes much more than Reaves. The same inclination I’ve seen over the years on player like Simmonds, Kadri . Every time the team struggles these players seem to get singled out much more.
And this from a pacifist.I know that he wasn't on the ice at the time that Liljegren got hurt, but he definitely didn't stand up for Liljegren afterwards either and if not Marchand nobody else paid.
Giordano held his own pretty good. I think they said that Giordano was 19 days older (or vice versa).Giordano and some unknown guy named Tim Horton are tied for the oldest Leafs to fight in a game.
