So these days screening requirements is becoming more and more common amongst sp's and many gents think that some of the info being asked for is very intrusive(I.e. personal ID, LinkedIn profile, work info etc). As a gent who may just be starting out in this hobby who is reluctant to provide a lot of personal details what assurances can sp's give him that his personal info doesn't fall into the wrong hands mistakingly? Do sp's have any kind of cyber security protocol where they protect client info that is provided and to not get hacked and prevent a situation like the AM scandal that broke out a few years ago?
I see where these clients are coming from, but I would follow up your first question with what other assurances can a new client give a the provider that they aren't going to rape, murder, or otherwise hurt us? New clients wouldn't have references as on option, so what is a provider supposed to do besides ask for these other options? For these clients the immediate fear is being exposed, whereas our immediate fear is for our lives and physical safety, so we're not starting out on an even footing here.
The good news is we don't want to be outed either, and discretion is very important to protect our personal lives as well as our business model
. It's literally in our best interest to protect your details. The other good news is if you're talking about seeing an indy provider, the chances of anyone being interested in hacking her for that info compared to a mega site like
Ashley Madison, is extremely extremely low. It's just wouldn't be worth the hackers effort for the small amount of data they could possibly get.
I can't speak for everyone, but I use encrypted email and file storage for my admin, I think this is pretty common as I learnt to do that from the advice of other providers. Some clients will find it easier to text me screening details, and when they do I delete them from my device once I've finished with my process, and anything I think I need to keep is safely stored in my encrypted drive.
