According to AM590 radio, the current AL East win/loss record of all 5 teams is the best ever in all of MLB history.

Have you looked at Moreno's numbers?? Nothing to write home aboutHey hey ho ho Alejandro kirk has got to go
Kirk has to go now, his time is up.Have you looked at Moreno's numbers?? Nothing to write home about
I will agree that Jansen should be our #1 catcherKirk has to go now, his time is up
Moreno: AB: 210 AVG: 267 H: 56 RBI: 26 R: 16 HR: 2 CS%: 59%Have you looked at Moreno's numbers?? Nothing to write home about
Moreno is a 23 year old rookie what kind of numbers did you expect? His BA has slipped recently but he still sports a respectable .312 OBP and has thrown out 47% of base stealers. He'll be a perennial gold glover.Have you looked at Moreno's numbers?? Nothing to write home about
Given that these guys appear to do better developing other organizations than their time with the Jays, how do you explain that?AA did a below average / bad job with the farm system. It was not good when he left and while he developed a few pitchers (Stroman / Sanchez) there was no position player of good caliber that was developed and reached the majors in his entire 8 year run, -- the best was Kevin Pillar.
AA's success was largely built off 3 brilliant moves:
1) Bautista cheap off the scrap heap
2) Encarnacion on the cheap (not sure if it was waivers or a jobber trade)
3) The Donaldson trade
But without developing talent the Jays got old quickly by 2016.
Here is the sad thing:
1) Shapiro / Atkins did a very good job developing talent in Cleveland. Right now with the Jays, the system stinks. They are not doing a good job in system development.
2) AA has done a great job developing, accumulating and managing talent in Atlanta. But he did below average in developing talent in Toronto.
I should have specified 2023. His throwing is good, but his offense isnt.Moreno: AB: 210 AVG: 267 H: 56 RBI: 26 R: 16 HR: 2 CS%: 59%
Jansen: AB: 181 AVG: 227 H: 41 RBI: 37 R: 24 HR: 11 CS%: 13%
Kirk: AB: 197 AVG: 239 H: 47 RBI: 21 R: 14 HR: 3 CS%: 26%
Have you also seen his clutch hitting??Jansen is 28 has an awful .282 OBP and has thrown out a paltry 12% of base stealers. He's clearly the worst defensive option of the 3. But he clearly has the most power
Yanks replace their hitting coach with a....wait for it........broadcaster. Does this mean they are in panic mode, Oracle? They lost to the A's tonight and looked pathetic...Donaldson has 9 hits this year in total. 7 of which are home runs. How weird is that? Yankees pitching for the most part has been good and they've won a lot of close games. Some of which they had no place in winning. Relief pitching has kept them in there so far. I think GM Brian Cashman's days are numbered in the big apple. If they don't turn this around he's probably gone in the offseason.
Sean Casey and Aaron Boone were teammates on the Reds during their playing days. Boone holds him in high regard.Yanks replace their hitting coach with a....wait for it........broadcaster. Does this mean they are in panic mode, Oracle?
Romano is tied in the lead for saves this season with 27 and only blown 3 save opportunities. A pretty stellar record. What a come back!, Romano didn't blow the save, otherwise I'd have to call him "Joey-dan McLaughlin"
Great post. Do you think the home run derby will spark Vlady, or mess him up as it has others?Sean Casey and Aaron Boone were teammates on the Reds during their playing days. Boone holds him in high regard.
Casey had a career batting avg of .302 over 12 seasons. So he's know how to hit. The question can he help others.
This isn't like Cashman to make in season coaching changes so you know there is a sense of emergency. My feeling is that Hal with replace Cashman at the end of the season unless there is a big turn around. For the last half of last year and the second half of this year they are 7 games above .500. That's with a top 3 payroll. That's inexcusable.
They're laiden with veteran players with big contracts in obvious decline. If not for the number 1 bullpen in the game this year would be a write off. They're saying now that Judge might have to deal with this toe injury for the rest of his career. They don't have a lot in the pipeline either. They have a SS in AAA Scranton, Oswald Peraza that has been up but went down when Donaldson came back. He's a great prospect. They also have an outfielder in Scranton name Everson Pereira who's climbing the ranks fast but other than that their top prospect Jasson Dominguez is going through growing pains in Somerset AA batting around .200. He's only 20 though. Most of their top pitching prospects are in the low minors.
I think the Jays will out pace both Houston and NY this year. Jays are much better than they are showing. I expect them to have a banger second half. City deserves a winner with all the support they give to their teams.
You know I really like Vlady and so do his fellow major leaguers. Not big on the hair though but that's just me showing my age most likely. Anyways back to the question. I've seen this derby apparently screw up a lot of players in the second half of their season. Happened to Judge when he was in it and he talked about how he strained a shoulder I believe. It's just too much violent torque in too short of a period of time. If I was a GM I would dissuade any of my players from participating. On a side note the one thing notices in these all-star games is just how many top flight Latino players dominate the League now. I believe that only 5% of the players are black now. There's an essay in there somewhere.Great post. Do you think the home run derby will spark Vlady, or mess him up as it has others?
