LOL! He had a career year last season, or perhaps last year was his career.
Aside from missing something in his game this year, Manoah behaved like an asshole last year and players/teams have geared up for him.

Something today's athletes could learn.
This isn't about winning games at this point. This about getting Manoah right. Your losing every 5 days anyway, so it doesn't really matter who they put in. Manoah needs some rest, and maybe some time experiment is the minors.
And not Ricky Romero, but personally (and obviously I'm no expert) but at the very minimum, some time off to give him some rest. There has to be a reason his velocity is down. He logged at lot of innings for a guy that made the transition so quick into the majors.
Rickey Romero was doing ok until his girlfriend(Miss Junior USA) dumped him. Maybe Manoah got dumped.
When I watched the first couple of games that Manoah pitched this season, I got the impression that he was a little rattled by the pitch clock. I'm no expert here but perhaps that started fucking with his head and just snowballed from there.

Good move to send him that far down. Triple A hitters would have hit him hard too. Not much chatter about his weight. Would he be better if he dropped about 20 pounds?
Also jay Jackson should have been kept. He was quite effective Monday night. Pitch him on Saturday as part of bullpen day.
Saw in the Star that it was unfair to boo Manoah. Disagree. Those people paid a lot of money to see a major league game and pitcher. The booing was for waiting one game too many to demote Manoah. I also saw more than usual empty seats. I decided to go to tonight's game and would not want to pay to see last night's game. Did people , like me, deliberately want to avoid seeing another Manoah start?

so send him to Florida which is rookie camp, as low as you can go

Should not be that hard to replace Manoah , after all, it is a fifth starter we are looking for but now
that we are desperate teams will want more , this problem should have been
solved proactively now we have to react and pay the price.
While we are at it, get two end of rotation starters for when someone else goes down

Pitching by a commitee of relievers but that wears out the pen so get a couple of relievers who
can pitch 2 or 3 innings instead of another starter and they can also be used between their
designated 5 spot as starters and be used as short relievers and we have improved over Manoah
with only four starters and lengthened bullpen

It used to be pitchers would pitch the whole game with only four starters and still
have a long career so why not use four starters then they come out inning earlier than normal ?
Maybe four starters twice then add the fifth starter every other rotation ?
Could starters refuse the extrawork load ?
I know I would refuse risking my career for a team but where is it written in agreement

I suspect Manoah may be back strong this year as he is a proven ace
Sandy Alcantra won NL Cy Young last year and is doing his version of a Manoah
with 2 and 5 record with era over 5
stuff happens with pitchers as the small stuff adds up and then you lose confidence
which is a killer in any sport, regardless of talent

Exactly. The issue is you wouldn't be able to work with him as much AAA. He's not some guy on a rehab stint. They need time to evaluate and practice as opposed him actually pitching, traveling with the team...etc.
I'm not sure, Kara Lang is not exactly chopped liver.
To quote Frank Zappa, Alek Manoah needs some discipline. He's out of shape, his velocity is down and he's tipping his pitches. This year batters are just waiting on him to serve fat tatters, the worst part, his stamina is gone. He needs tough love, Gary Roberts would know what to do. Since he's back in Florida why not Osmin Hernandez...a former Cuban Special Forces.

Regarding Manoah, I see them tinkering with his mechanics down there as well. Like they famously did with Roy Halladay. Possibly change his workout regimen.. Maybe even get him using his lower half better to generate more velocity. Possibly even change his arm angle. His release point etc. etc. who knows.

Every time when Romano comes in to the game to close it's white knuckles I don't have confidance that he will get the job done. He almost blew the save yesterday, a couple of inches houston would of tied the game. Why didn't they leave Bassitt in to start the 9th he was cruising alnog and his pitch count was low, have Romano ready in the pen if required. Another brain fart move by Schneider that would of cost us the game.
