Every time when Romano comes in to the game to close it's white knuckles I don't have confidance that he will get the job done. He almost blew the save yesterday, a couple of inches houston would of tied the game. Why didn't they leave Bassitt in to start the 9th he was cruising alnog and his pitch count was low, have Romano ready in the pen if required. Another brain fart move by Schneider that would of cost us the game.
I was at tonight's game. From where I was sitting, his first two outs looked like bullets that were luckily caught. He only succeeds it feels like, with a clean ninth. I don't trust him with runners on base, and I don't trust him in a tie game.

After tonight's outing, his ERA would probably be 2.7 something. How he got there is beyond me. I don't feel good about him at all.

OK. Here's something that hasn't been discussed before and is intended for those with deep knowledge of the game.

Whenever the Jays play home games (at the Skydome ;)), who the hell is that girl who serves the fans in the "In the Zone" section. She seems tallish, slender, dark skinned, with long straight hair and bright red lipstick? She looks amazing and you see her almost all the time when they use the camera that is behind the pitcher in the outfield. I'd like her name and number, please.😁

Are you subliminally asking if I know who that is? Lol.

I think Romano is an average closer. Not perfect, but not bad.All closers blow saves now and then (even old 42) and the ninth inning can be exciting and tense either way. We now have a reliable 8th inning guy. Mariano Rivera is not available to replace Romano.

Anthony Bass to catch first pitch from LGBTQ advocate tonight in pride celebration game, LOL
I still don't fully understand, or even know what Anthony Bass did or said. But I did watch some of the Ross Atkins press conference yesterday talking about it. Always squirming on the hot seat. Lol. Always giving that safe, double edge answer. Always trying to appease everybody with his many sided responses. Lol.

Atkins better handle the Manoah demotion properly.

Romano is easily better then an average closer.

He re-twitted/shared a video of a Christian guy that basically said "the Bible says homosexuality is wrong" and to boycott Target and Bud Light.

....OMG, personal feelings aside,, a public figure like that doing something like that is so stupid. I can see why there's issues, especially with his association to the Blue Jays..

Doesn't really matter how you slice it. His overall numbers suggest he's been one of the best closers over the last 3 years.
That is what using him in non-rally, clean ninth save situations will give you. An ERA under 3.00 lol. I truly think he has horseshoes up his ass at times. Ball is smoked right at somebody.

Tbh, and in all fairness, Im ok w him when he's in an overpowering rhythm. Climbing the ladder at 98 mph. Using his slider as more of a wipe out pitch.

i'll never be OK with his back leg doing that rigid twitch thing before he starts is wind up. Rickey Henderson would've stolen two bases on one pitch lol.

Bass has been DFA'd, Mitch White activated.

Bass' career is toast.
Amusing to see the freedom warrior get all upset about this.

1. Mitch White needed to be activated or waived (due to the rules of the 60 Day IL and the 30 day rehab)
2. Who else were the Jays going to demote? No pitcher is worse than Bass right now -- maybe Richards is an equal, but Richards can go more innings which they need since they will be going with some bullpen starts the rest of the mo
3. You can't demote Bass without designating him for assignment - he has no options to be demoted (without designation)
3. There is zero risk that Bass will be claimed on waivers. And no teams may want his issues -- but moreso no team would pay him $3M when he is below replacement level right now.

Nah, one of the Texas teams will pick him up. He'll fit in there.
Nobody will claim him even if they have no issues with his philosophies - they would need to assume the remainder of his $3m contract this year and also his $3m contract for next year (which there is a team option to buyout for a $1m).

I suppose at some point the Jays could cut him a cheque of his remaining contract and outright release him e(not sure if he is able to refuse demotion after he clears waivers) At that point some team may take him -- but its lots of issues to take on for mediocre pitcher.

He is just not good enough to be claimed on waivers though (issue / no issues aside)

Where were the Jays concerning LGBTQ a few years ago ? Or Bud Light or Target or anyone else that is now
LGBTQ friendly?

They were silent but it has become good for business to be LGBTQ friendly so they jump on the bandwagon,
and then THEY BURY BASS FOR QUOTING THE BIBLE. Bass has a right to state his non violent opinion
even if you do not agree. If Bass thinks they demoted him for stating an opinion that is politically
incorrect then he should sue
