Wouldn't he look good in Yankee pinstripes?
Yes but he's has said that he would never play in NY...LOL.

And he's a right handed hitter. We need left bats to balance out Judge, Stanton, Donaldson, Torres, Le Mahieu, Trevino and Bader.

That's why Rizzo is so valuable....And of course he left todays game with a head injury...Ratz.

The notion of trading a 24 year old slugger is blatant insanity. Yes he's going through a very dry spell, nothing that some fatherly advice can't fix. Remember BoBoChette was shortening his career with his violent swing, then Dante showed up and corrected his mechanics. Maybe Vlady is still injured, I liked that he and Bo were discussing his situation. They had a rift recently, Vlady wanted to keep the HR jacket, Bo hated it. Presently Vlady is trying too hard, opposing pitchers are throwing him junk, he's being impatient. Time for Vlad Sr to show up in Toronto, he was a master at hitting junk pitches.

If you trade Vlady, doing it out of disadvantage, you get no real quality in return. When Aaron Judge first stuck with the Yankees, he had a breakout rookie season followed by three where his production fell off while he dealt with injuries. Then in 21-22 he hit 102 hrs, currently he has 15. He's 7 years older than Vlady, the Yanks didn't give up on him. Ben Johnson says he's a cheetah but that's another story.

I never been to a Jays game and I am going to try to change that this year.

Where is the best place to buy Jays tickets? Is Ticketmaster/Stubhub still the best way to go about it?
I usually buy direct off jays website. The mlb "ballpark" app is pretty good too

One can only deduce that none of the current TERB critics of the team, voted in the poll. All 22 that voted had the Jays with a minimum of 87 wins. In fact 95.5% had them from 87-100 wins. Why didn't anyone tell us how mediocre they'd be prior to the season start? We had nobody calling them a .500 team or even just a few games better. The point is that everyone thought this was a solid team. Nobody considered them mediocre or that they should be blown up.

I seem to vaguely recall some old adage about hindsight.

The season is barely 1/3 over. IMO, too soon to be 100% certain of how the season will play out.

For transparency, I picked them to win 97. Anybody else care to say what their prediction was?

Go with your cell phone and buy when you get there

no cash allowed

buy cheap as you can now wander anywhere

last year you could not

much better spectator friendly atmosphere

agree to a point

do not trade if you do not get quality in return but if you can pull the trigger

the days of him putting bums into seats is ending so his value to the cash register is diminishing
and he will soon want a mega contract

I think teams will salvitate over Vlad as, like you, they see a superstar in the making

You point to Judge as a case in point but how many have not turned into superstars?

Vlad has had a couple of years to figure out how they pich him as they discover his weakness
and he has not adapted which is what SUPER STARS HAVE TO DO

We all do. Us Torontonians glorify our goaltenders and our teams lol.'

Like Shack said about hindsight.... how logical is it to dismantle some key components to a winning team that won 92 games, luckily catching fire after a managerial change...... made the playoffs for the 6th time in 30 years.....

I mean really. Ross must be pretty sure of himself.

I am currently in the States. I hear American commentators still saying the Jays are loaded with talent. Maybe they haven't been watching closely or we are hyper critical. But the fact is we are and we deserve to be in last place in the AL East and 3.5 games out of the lowest wc spot

The Blue Jays have made the playoffs 6 times clean since 1977, and the one in 2020 was in a very unorthodox shortened pandemic season where they were undeservedly granted a playoff birth, being they were only four games above 500.. They have also made two additional postseason appearances by way of the wildcard. So in total, the Blue Jays have made the postseason eight times since 1977.

Last year's team won 92 games. That's WITH the dancing and the jacket. I mean we can break down statistics and say this and that tit for tat, but the bottom line is last year's team was a winning team. I personally, miss the character it had as well. Latino Bluejay flavour is a beautiful thing for me lol. Why on earth did Ross Atkins gain so much support as he dismantled key components of that team? I'm surprised not more of a big deal is made out of this. Logically it's like what the fuck? I thought all him and Shapiro have ever done is work on number crunching for budget wise team salaries. Has this duo ever won a World Series? One could argue about Pat Gillick trading away Fred McGriff and Tony Fernandez, for Joe Carter and Roberto Alamar after the teams success in 1989 (even though a powerhouse Athletics team made mincemeat out of them in the ALCS).... but after 1990 when they finished two games behind the Red Sox who won the division that year, it was clear that a change was needed. And the trade itself was very apparent in being balanced, in both conversation and on paper.

I just don't know WTF Atkins is doing. I never quite understood what he was doing. I like the Chris Bassitt and Kiermaier signings though. In my mind, everything else has been a head scratching circus show.

I thought the Varsho trade was recklessly incompetent but I trusted mnagement knew
more than I possibly could and saw a star in Varsho but I was wrong

Phil Perkins (CP24) was at the Rogers Centre trying to interview fans about the Bass Instagram incident. None of the fans would touch the issue with a 12 foot pole. Smart fans.

Anthony Bass making a pucurone of himself aside, what happened in the rubber match between the Twins was fascinating.

BoBoChette and Vlady finally mended fences. Bo has an ulterior motive for doing this, if Vlady doesn't get out of his funk, opposing pitchers will start intentionally walking him. His chances of surpassing Vernon Wells in hits gets cut down. What's fascinating about this, the rift started over Bo wanting to get rid of the hr jacket, Vlady wanting to keep it. Vladdy is a gregarious type of player, he wants people to like him, the fact that Bo was giving him the silent treatment started to affect his batting. Bo couldn't care less about being liked as long as he's respected. The rapprochement worked, Vladdy went 3-5 in G1 against the Brewers. Time for him to start driving the ball, the ginging types on this thread (who want him traded) are insane.

One more thing, I would have kept Rowdy Tellez.

Looked at Tampa's record this morning. Since their 13-0 start they have been playing .590 baseball. Certainly very good, but it brings them back down to Earth.

We are 1/3 of the way into the season, and our cleanup hitter, Brandon Belt, has 2 homers, which projects to 6 for the year. Yeah, that’s not good.

Omfg

Why were so many geared up on this team to win? How many publications chose them to go to the World Series? I must admit, I caught the bug a few times myself.

....but then, when I come back to a down to earth, I always think to myself why did they trade Teoscar.... because he had ONE year left on his contract? But then they sign Belt for one year? Why does that feel so bonehead to me? They couldn't sign and platoon Kiermaier? Was it really going to kill them to let Hernandez play 20 to 40 games in the outfield?

Anyways, this is driving me crazy.

Berrios is quietly back to the being the ace we expected in last 6 starts
and Pearson looks to be doing same as
he has a 1.69 ERA in 16 innings with a solid 28.1% strikeout rate.

Still, we have had no starters go down and no top relievers go down
which will happen and when pitchers go down to injury we have no back up

Hitting homers with RISP is Vlads job not Belts and Vlad is on his way to a 20 homer season

Belt is hitting well right now after bad start and he is a lefty so he is in
number 4 until someone takes over

Vlad projects to less than 20 unless a practise pitcher is brought in to pitch to him

when was the last time he hit a homer off a real pitcher?
