While I'm optimistic (as is my nature) they have a serious uphill battle. The goal was to win the first round and they did that. Now we're hungry for more. Hope they are too. The part that makes me angry, is it looked like they could've won both those games. It wasn't like they didn't have a chance against a far superior team. All we can do is hope.

Knies out with a concussion.
I agree, very frustrating. For the most part, and with a couple serious exceptions, this team def has the talent to go very far this year if they could just figure out consistency of effort and offensive production from the top forwards.

And less stupid giveaways!

Agree with KD and GameBoy - fucking Nylander is a joke this far in the playoffs. Never has there been a bigger chickenshit floater than him. He's clearly terrified of the rough going and makes poor plays and dead giveaways every damn time an opposing player comes anywhere near him. I hope he feels the well deserved deep humiliation every time the team watches him shit his pants and run for cover/the bench and then watches Marner grinding it out in the corners and blocking shots left and right fearlessly. I could understand if he was a consistent threat when he's on the ice, giving 100% every shift, or at least lighting it up on the scoreboard, but fuck, the guy is virtually INVISIBLE!

Absolutely hate the fucker, and no one will ever convince me he adds a single iota of championship value to the Leafs roster. So done with this guy!
at least you see Nylander the way i do. biggest floater in the league. been saying this for a few years now, but hey, he,s got like 50 pts so far.... he,s like that guy when you rent the ice late saturday night, that stands at the other teams blueline, GOALSUCK. i,d bury him in anaheim, or columbus.

I wonder who it was who finally called him out in the dressing room btwn the second and third periods for his goal-costing giveaways, poor defence and la-dee-da attitude that he emerged for the third looking like someone had stuck a flaming Sherwood up his ass. In the third period he almost looked like a real NHL star although he still was in his own little world and decided the play the period entirely on his own. Must have been quite the biting zinger of a rebuke....

From Justin Bourne of Sportnet:

"After Game 1 I questioned Nylander in a few ways, namely his effort without the puck. I thought he was the best player on the rink in Game 2 by a good margin, constantly making the Panthers miss and creating rush opportunities. Toronto generated eight odd man rushes to Florida’s two, leading to eight attempts from the slot, many of which were set up by the Leafs' smooth winger.

I’ve seen him critiqued for the turnover that led to the Panthers' third goal, and look, it wasn’t great. But hanging on to the puck is also what led to a lot of the Leafs' offence-creation, and Nylander is not a turnover risk in general. By turnover rate percentage (compared to their touches), the three forwards who turn it over least often on the Leafs are Matthews, then Ryan O’Reilly, then Nylander. Among the players asked to produce offence, Bunting, Tavares, and Marner are more likely to turn it over."

I agree, an animal sacrifice may seem barbaric but it may be the only way to lift the Yolanda Ballard curse!
I can offer the raccoon in my garage. Also, their fur make a nice hat and coat.

It took 20 years to win one round. Let say another 20 years to win 2 rounds. Let's sacrifice 2 raccoons.

Craig Button starting at 5:50
"William Nylander was the best player on the ice for the Toronto Maple Leafs start to finish"

Well we all agree Craig Button is a great authority on talent. This is the same Craig Button who once put future hall of famer Marty St.Louis on waivers and then watched him become a superstar with TB. Same guy who traded JS Giguere for a second round draft pick to protect Freddy Braithwaite in the 2000 expansion draft. Same guy who traded away Marc Savard in his prime for some Russian can of corn who never played a single NHL game. Same guy who lasted less than 3 seasons as an NHL GM and was then ridden completely out of the NHL on a rail 20 years ago.

So you see my friends, if Craig Button said Slick Willy is the best player on the ice, you can take that to the bank. 😂

I think we can all agree that Craig Button has been right more often than you have been.

Jay Onrait introduces Craig Button as their Director of Scouting so he knows what a hockey player looks like.
Meanwhile you have people out there shouting in unison "We Want Florida" as if it's a gimme tells you all you need to know about their hockey knowledge.

Watched Matt Cauz on TV say the Leafs outplayed the Panthers except for Bob. Didn't one of our members say that the goalie is part of the team and you can't say "except for the goalie"?

Matt also went on to say the 4 Leaf guys making over $40mm haven't scored a goal. Again didn't one of our members say the players play for free ($0) in the playoffs?
