Vasilevsky 3.56 GAA and .875 SV%
Samsonov 3.14 GAA and .900 SV%
This is the first series in the Matthews era where we can say Leafs goalie outplayed the opposition's goalie.

Ullmark in 6 games before he was injured 3.33 GAA .896 SV%
Swayman in 2 games 3.34 GAA .875 SV%

Our odds are significantly improved vs. Panthers as opposed to Bruins.
That doesn't mean we should ease up. We need to be better than we were vs. TB.
FLA has firepower and lots of it with Tkachuk, Barkov, Verhaeghe, Reinhart etc.
We need to play disciplined and be defensively responsible and win puck battles.
If we do this, I think we take them out in 6 games.

Panthers beat BOS by outworking them. BOS got too cocky and stopped working, always underestimating the FLA work ethic. It was never on display more than game 7 where FLA just never stopped grinding right through overtime. Leafs will need to work a shit ton harder and more consistently than they did against TB if they're going to beat this FLA team. Samsonov will need to keep standing on his head, Leafs D will need to be consistently better as will 3rd and 4th lines.
big bruin fan here mr wick. your spot on, florida wanted it more than boston. its just that simple. hopefully bruins can figure it out, and get back here next year ;) .

I was curious as to what that means in terms of goals.

Seeing as 5 games went to overtime I assumed each team averaged approx. 35 shots a game. (In a 60 minute game teams typically get about 30 shots.) Over 6 games, that's 210 shots per team.

The difference between .915 and .925 for 210 shots works out to just about 2 goals difference for the series.
Here's the math:
It was a 6 game series.
Every game was decided by 1 goal
Washington won 4 games and Leafs won 2 games.
So for Washington to win 2 more games than Toronto each by 1 goal they would have to score 2 more goals than the Leafs.
So you are correct difference of 2 goals.
Washington won 3 OT games and Leafs won 2 OT games so if one of the OT games Washington won went to the Leafs the series would be tied 3 3 and both Samsonov and Holtby would probably have the same SV% if total shots were the same. Their GAA would be the same if no one pulled the goalie in that one non OT game.

The Panthers are restricting game tickets be sold only to US residents. WTF. I hope they got crushed by the Leafs.

After losing game 5, the leafs will now lose the series.
Good thing you didn't bet on that. Or did you? lol

They're restricting "new" game tickets to US residents. Season ticket holders regardless of nationality will not be restricted. Lots of teams in different leagues have done this in the past. Nothing new.

As long as Holl is out. Seriously, his play was glaringly bad during the Tampa series. I'm pretty sure the Leafs would be playing Game 7 tonight if Sheldon didn't sit him for Liljegren and Gustafsson.
I don't think there was anyone who said Holl should play game 6. Glad coach agreed.

An all Canadian Stanley Cup Final remains a possibility after round 1. Let’s hope I can repeat the same sentence with just a digit change. The problem is both the Leafs/Panther and Oilers/GK series are imo tossups so the mathematical odds for both advancing are a slim 25%.

I wonder how many Florida residents were able to get tickets for the games in Toronto in the 2-second window they were available for.

Bang on, Holtby allowed 2 fewer goals on on 2 more shots. And 210 wasn't far off.
