You are wrong. Although it was not called AA there was a conscious effort at McGill, U of T, York etc. to admit more Jews.
Jews don't need AA or a clone of AA to qualify for admission to university. They get admitted based on merit.

"In 1913, 6.8% of McGill students were Jewish; by 1924, this number had risen to 25%"
So, the Jewish student population at McGill was 25% before the ban.

Choice?
Don't have an abortion or leave?
Go to a State that has voted in favor of it.

We all know that abortion is wrong under virtually all circumstances other than rape and incest (which comprise less than 1% of abortions). Why is pro-murder so popular under the guise of "my body my choice"?

You are correct that Jews do not need AA because the program of increasing enrollment years ago was successful.

The Jewish student population at McGill was 25% before the ban. I'm sure it must have been higher than 25% when I entered McGill many years after the ban was lifted.

You are looking only a 2 points in time. Although I did not go to McGill I did go to U of T and then York (Osgoode). My sister went to mcGill although she is 9 years younger than I am. In any event when I entered University and the law school it was well known, at least in Ontario, that the number of Jewish students was to be increased and in fact it was. My marks in both HS and University were pretty good but i suspect that i got some help from my religion. Do Jews need help now. I do not belive so but that is at least in part to the actions of the past.

In addition to McGill, I also attended UofT and Western for a year each and I can truthfully say that the smartest students in my classes were Jews and Asians (Chinese and E.I.'s).
Too many Asians at U of T? (livejournal.com)

What "they" are saying about Asian students to-day is what they said about Jews back in the day.

"Dr. Ira Robinson explains that Jewish students were perceived as being too “academically concentrated.” Supposedly, this warranted their reduction in academia in favour of students who were more “well rounded”: all codewords used to legitimize the reduction of the number of Jewish students admitted to McGill."

I have no problem with race, religion, gender etc. being among them. Professions etc. Universities, professions etc should reflect the community. When a community is vastly underrepresented one could fairly wonder why. It is trite to say that when kids grow up in a community of doctors and lawyers etc it is more likely that they will aspire to that kind of thing and likely have some ad advantage in SATs etc. And don't get me started on legacy students and parents who can make large endowment contributions or who play golf with the dean of admission. The system is skewed and a program to address historical and current inequities are a good thing for society.
I just fundamentally disagree that race, religion or gender are the factors important to represent.

I think Elizabeth Warren checked the right box when she applied to Harvard.
You think checking that box is what allowed her to attend Harvard when she applied there?

It probably helped her. Otherwise, why would she say "Native American"?

Get rid of all the boxes. Race, gender, religion, sexual orientation and so on and so on. Just get rid of those damn boxes.

That's how Affirmative Action works.
Interesting.
So the fact that she didn't attend Harvard (she got her degrees from the University of Houston and Rutgers University) doesn't shake your belief in this story at all?

They are among many factors. The OP and many opponent would have you believe that unqualified people are getting into universities and professional schools just based upon race or religion or whatever. That is simply not true. the suggestion that you determine the best candidate just based upon marks and nothing else is just silly. Just ask anyone who has ever had to hire someone. There was negative AA for many, many years. That is that people were rejected just based upon race or religion regardless of their other qualifications.

The Elizabeth Warren story and affirmative action itself is a bit of a mess.

"But in proudly posturing Warren as a diverse minority member of their faculties, to some extent or another, these schools may very well have denied actual qualified minorities an opportunity to gain a position that truly would have diversified their staff.

As for her being hired at Harvard, while her claimed Native American heritage may not have been a factor in the decision, her gender most certainly was as records show that Harvard was in the midst of a push to hire more female professors at that time, particularly one who would be in a tenured position."

Next: How did Barrack Obama gain admission to Ivy League Columbia University? It wasn't because of his unremarkable academic record. Maybe it was because of his good looks?

Harvard has confirmed that race or ethnicity had nothing to do with Warren gaining admission. Your comment about Obama is among the more racist statement you have made but why do you ignore how the stable genius got into university. Obama naver had a lawyer threaten a school if they released his transcripts. i guess the chosen one is so humble and modest that he didn't want to embarrass anyone with the brillianace of his academic career.

They didn't ban abortion. They gave the choice of abortion up to the voters. It's a very democratic ruling.
They gave the choice to State politicians but they are currently vowing to respect state rights by implementing a nation-wide ban.
