Say what you want but Singapore has the best school system that is based strictly on meritocracy.

They identify their star pupils early regardless of class/family wealth/connections and ensure everything possible is done to ensure their success.

Part 1: “Equalising opportunities, not outcomes
The biggest evidence of meritocracy that I see, and can relate best to is in the education system in Singapore. All students go through the same National examinations (PSLE, O’ levels, A’ levels), and have the same assessment criteria. The government is not expecting everyone to have the sam…

Question: Do you want an Affirmative Action surgeon to operate on your heart?
...
Yes. If they became a doctor because of affirmative action, that means they were academically qualified AND showed the internal strength to overcome some challenges in their life.

Would you want a medschool legacy surgeon who got in only because of money and family connections?

At McGill University, talent is the number one importance. Family wealth is not a factor.
...
Or so they say (ignoring that a teen who has to work long hours to support their family doesn't have as much time to study while rich kids can afford endless tutors).

I want a surgeon who got in because of talent/merit. His/her family wealth/connection is not a factor in my mind.

So you should have no problem with affirmative action students because they still face the same curriculum for their undergrad, med school and internship.

As we all know high school marks are hardly a reliable indicator on their own.

If they had the talent, they wouldn't need Affirmative Action.

California (a hardcore liberal state) is a good case study on the idiocracy of affirmative action.

Does anyone think that the stable genius got into university based upon his academic achievements.
LOL…As I recall, the stable genius paid other students to take his SAT’s and college assignments. 😂

And then he paid Michael Cohen to threaten to sue the schools if they released his transcripts. Obviously the most transparent POTUS in history.

You could try reading what I posted.

Poor people (which minorities make up a big percentage of due to systemic racism) have less opportunity to have high school marks due to their need to support their family and assist in child care. To add, poor communities have much less support for students, less opportunity for them to pad their resume, and less spending on schools That's why affirmative action plays a role. It never allows unqualified people to graduate but simply gives them an opportunity to prove their capability they wouldn't otherwise had access to.

More importantly, in the time between university admissions and graduating med school, they have successfully achieved a decade of the same challenging academics as every other graduate.

Yes, feel free to go to your affirmative action doctor/surgeon. Don't let anyone stop you.

They still have pass all the same tests and go through the same residency.
Unfortunately for you, you can't refuse doctors here because of their race.

Are you saying that all Canadian "affirmative action" doctors/surgeons belong to one race? Why are you bringing up race?

Are you saying you don't even understand how affirmative action works after all these pages complaining about it?
