Say what you want but Singapore has the best school system that is based strictly on meritocracy.

They identify their star pupils early regardless of class/family wealth/connections and ensure everything possible is done to ensure their success.

As we all know high school marks are hardly a reliable indicator on their own.

Poor people (which minorities make up a big percentage of due to systemic racism) have less opportunity to have high school marks due to their need to support their family and assist in child care. To add, poor communities have much less support for students, less opportunity for them to pad their resume, and less spending on schools That's why affirmative action plays a role. It never allows unqualified people to graduate but simply gives them an opportunity to prove their capability they wouldn't otherwise had access to.

More importantly, in the time between university admissions and graduating med school, they have successfully achieved a decade of the same challenging academics as every other graduate.

If the need arises, I prefer to go to one of the better hospitals. You are free to go to one of the worst ones.
