I am actually quite puzzled as to why we should show d*ckheads like you anything, especially when you won't believe any of it or cherry-picks whatever shows your narrative. Beginning with the conclusion and trying to make everything fit it is the dumbest thing that you can do.....

I am quite puzzled that you would call me a dickhead,
I guess you correctly assume I would not rat you out to get you banned,....... your welcome

back to the point, there is no cherry picking as is no govt subsidy
Besides , don't you think Gerald Butts would have put a stop to these payments day one, upon gaining power back in 2015?

Again just just tell us the department & minister who is supposedly doling out these Billions of taxpayer dollars to the oil companies?

Please loose the insults and answer the damn question

The CBC is dogshit, I never watch it, watching it reminds me of how unambitious this country is. If it was more right it would be an even bigger pile of dogshit.

I would be fine with dramatically reducing their budget, but the CBC should still exist.

The Liberals and Conservatives both fund the CBC, depending on who's in power at the time.

Why drive a wedge between them here? It's stupid. Stop it.....
give your head a shake,

biased treatment by the publicly funded media undermines democracy

are you incapable of seeing CBC is driving the wedge

Then scale. If you want to play the market size card, then I guess small businesses have no chance and should not bother. There are plenty of real life examples of small businesses succeeding on their own.

Bottom line is the CBC needs to put on their big boy pants and figure out how to survive without taxpayer money. Otherwise they perish. Simple. Right now we need every available dollar spent on non-luxury items such as healthcare, education, infrastructure, poverty and debt reduction.

I resent anyone that forces me to fund poor quality and imposes minimum content on us. I watch what I want, when I want and I am happy to pay for it if the quality is there. After a lifetime of subscribing to cable, I cut that cord because the quality was no longer what I could accept for the ever increasing price I pay. Now I don't have channels I don't need or want forced on me and I watch what I want.
Bottom line.
Canadians want to fund the CBC.
PP chose yet another unpopular platform.

Culture is important and its worth remembering how we are different from the US.

GTA & Thereabouts...
The only TV I watch is Hockey and Thursday Night CBC News.

If the CBC can guarantee impartial journalism, I'd support their funding as it offers a tie-in between points of view from Canada... Do I think their impartiality is coming into play? Yep. Poilievre may have a point...

I want the CBC to hammer our politicians. All of them. Relentlessly.

Check out CBC news, it hits all politicians and has an ombudsman you can report to if you think they are acting biased.
I've done it and they respond and will change.

Wow. You must think that you have a lot of power here. The arrogance is hilarious but somewhat worrying.

Maybe try to tone down the empty threats and assertions and try to have a meaningful discussion, OK?

But something tells me that you won't.....because of the fact that I had mentioned earlier.....

Why would the Conservatives fund a station that has a so-called "liberal bias"???

Come on. Unless the Cons are really that stupid, maybe you should give your head a shake.....

My hunch is the righties want to see the CBC be relentless on Justin and any Liberal policy Justin comes up with. A spin on copying the Fox Fake News delivery style then Pee Pee and all the righties would back up sending more money to help the cause.

It would not surprise me if Pee Pee were to win, he turns Rebel News into the new CBC of Canada.

Snowden, really? He's a decade ago and I doubt that he has first hand and up to date information about the security state now.

What new information does Snowden have? Come on.....
If you found out, they would find you and kill you...

The righties think Fox is neutral and want CBC more like that, though they already have that in Post Media, the Sun, etc.
They don't realize that CBC is neutral to the vast majority of Canadians.

CBC is financed by taxpayer's money. Everyone else isn't.

Not sure how this thread turned Right vs Left, Liberals vs Conservatives.

Question should be: do we, Canadians, get value for dollar from financing a media group? I, personally, don't see much value in it. Haven't watched it other than hockey night, but even that is now mostly on TSN and SC360.

CBC radio is essential across the country.
Quebec CBC essential.
CBC online news is now our best source.

TV?
Hit and miss, but worth keeping to give avenue for CanCon, Canadian stories, artists, etc.
Sports they do well, but really they should stick to the olympics.

CBC has been around longer than I have lived, so good for them. I understand many people like them and consider essential. However it isn't more essential than CP24 or CTV and those are privately owned. 1.2+ billion is A LOT and CBC's viewership is a fraction of what Rogers/Bell rake in, nevermind political bias and affiliations. Why can't they run it as a business?

If I was stuck to mommy's titty all my life I'd have no insensitive to move out, grow, better myself etc. We're in a capitalist society, yet feeding CBC for decades. I'd like health-care to improve, better infrastructure and other critical areas, so I see a better use for a billion dollars.

During Covid CBC had less programming citing a shortage of staff, a time when news and information was most critical.

And I also see an issue of CBC mostly employing individuals with left views. Perhaps they should've been more balanced from the get go.

CBC news stories are reported with obvious liberal bias. During the truckers occupation they falsely reported attacks that led to the the government enacting the emergency measures act.
CBC opinion pieces and interviews with guests demonstrate a clear woke liberal, anti capitalist bias. At times the attacks seem almost rabid.
CBC is an irrelevant news source. It’s entertainment content is awful. The opinion pieces and interviews are predictably bias. The organization is obsessed with DIE (Diversity, Inclusion, Equality) and bashes anyone who isn’t. Kill it.
