they have produced tons of good programming over the years and though they are socially progressive, I don't think they are Liberal cheerleaders. They jump on the scandals no matter which party is involved. It's not like Russia where Putin runs the news department. They also help unite the nation and should remain. PP will probably kill them if and when he takes the throne.
Snowden, really? He's a decade ago and I doubt that he has first hand and up to date information about the security state now.

There is a difference between "State Run" media and "government funded" media.
Do you really think that if CBC was "State Run" that they would have allowed people like Wayne and Shuster, The Frantics and Air Farce on their airwaves? I think not.....
I had a friend of mine ages ago who knew some people in the Eastern Bloc.
They came to visit at one point and were very confused when my friend and their roommates wanted to watch the "government channel".
But being guests, they sat down and watched This Hour has 22 Minutes and were in total shock that this was a show on any channel, let alone the official national one.
