CBC gets a government funding of over 1.2 billion dollars. Viewer ratings are low. They hardly have any original content.

IMO there are better options than defunding.- making them more accountable towards the efficient and proper use of grant proportional to the viewer rating to ensure that the tax payers money does not go down the drain.

But if this can not be ensured, then defunding will likely become the norm.

I was going to just chime in with my big mouth without reading your post and say “burn CBC to the ground and start over.” However I did take a moment to read your post and wholeheartedly agree with you.

A billion dollars to be a political shill is outrageous. A slap in the face to every hard working Canadian. We deserve better.

Being accountable would be a great start.

Only thing I can think of is cutting back on the number of stations. Do we really need 12 CBC stations?

As a news organization they come across like the propaganda arm of the Liberal party so in that respect their funding should be cut.

I think the CBC services the northern outposts that private networks do not. In that sense, they do have a role.

On a side note, ever notice how the foreign telecom companies are only interested in the big cities. It's call economy of scale. They are not interested in clients in the Northern Territories because too few paying customers there.

Haven't watch that channel in years. I think Paula Todd used to be on there. I don't need it but I think it is part of my Rogers package.
